Neste sentido, a presente tese teve por objetivo analisar o ritmo pluviométrico da região do Núcleo de Desertificação de Cabrobó/PE associado às condições oceânico-atmosféricas, no período de 1982 a 2016 e suas repercussões socioeconômicas. Para tanto, buscou contribuir para a compreensão dos pressupostos dos estudos climáticos e do desenvolvimento da climatologia geográfica no Brasil, a partir da contextualização das primeiras obras que trataram do clima e do tempo na ciência geográfica. Analisou-se a variabilidade pluviométrica considerando os aspectos temporais, espaciais e rítmicos. Verificou-se que, em média, as áreas mais ao sul do Núcleo recebem uma quantidade menor de precipitação pluviométrica ao longo dos anos, podendo ser explicado pela diferença de altitude e orientação do relevo da área estudada. Quanto aos aspectos rítmicos da precipitação, constataram-se o favorecimento ou inibição das chuvas no período chuvoso de acordo com o posicionamento de sistemas atmosféricos atuantes na região, associados às condições de Anomalias de Temperaturas de Superfície do Mar – ATSM. Constatou-se a relação existente entre os índices de ATSM do Oceano Pacífico Tropical, do Oceano Atlântico Tropical e o Índice de Anomalia de Chuva (IAC). Os resultados apontaram que as ATSM no Oceano Pacífico podem atuar de maneira favorável ou desfavorável na intensidade do período chuvoso em associação às ATSM do Oceano Atlântico Tropical. Por último, verificou-se a relação entre as condições climáticas e a produção do cultivo do arroz. Averiguou-se uma acentuada variabilidade na produção anual do arroz em casca que pode ser relacionada com as condições climáticas da região semiárida, principalmente com a variabilidade pluviométrica.FACEPEThe Brazilian semi-arid region presents the pluviometric variability as well as the long periods of droughts, as marked characteristics of its climatic rhythm that are influenced by several factors, among which, it is worth noting, the interaction of the atmospheric circulation with the thermodynamic conditions of the Pacific oceans and Tropical Atlantic. In this sense, the present thesis aimed to analyze the pluviometric rhythm of the Cabrobó / PE Desertification Nucleus region associated to oceanicatmospheric conditions, from 1982 to 2016 and its socioeconomic repercussions. In order to do so, it sought to contribute to the understanding of the assumptions of climatic studies and the development of geographic climatology in Brazil, based on the contextualization of the first works dealing with climate and time in geographic science. Rainfall variability was analyzed considering temporal, spatial and rhythmic aspects. It was verified that, in average, the areas more to the south of the Nucleus receive a smaller amount of rainfall over the years, being able to be explained by the difference of altitude and orientation of the relief of the studied area. As for the rhythmic aspects of precipitation, rainfall favoring or inhibition was observed in the rainy season according to the positioning of atmospheric systems in the region, associated to the conditions of Sea Surface Temperature Anomalies (ATSM). The relationship between the ATSM indexes of the Tropical Pacific Ocean, the Tropical Atlantic Ocean and the Rainfall Anomaly Index (IAC) was verified. The results showed that the ATSM in the Pacific Ocean can act favorably or unfavorably in the intensity of the rainy season in association with the ATSM of the Tropical Atlantic Ocean. Finally, the relationship between climatic conditions and rice crop production was verified.
