Defendendo o uso de problemas da vida real para iniciar e motivar o processo de aprendizagem O PBL é uma estratégia indutiva que promove a compreensão de novos conceitos, bem como o desenvolvimento de habilidades, habilidades e atitudes profissionais. Assim, é fundamental que professores e alunos implementem PBL em conformidade com seus princípios fundamentais. Por outro lado, tal implementação se torna um desafio, considerando que o PBL é fundamentalmente diferente dos métodos tradicionais de instrução direta. Sem o suporte pedagógico e tecnológico adequado, a qualidade, eficácia e autenticidade da PBL estão em risco. Na tentativa de superar esses desafios, este trabalho apresenta o Ambiente de Aprendizado Virtual PBL-Coach (VLE). Construído sobre os princípios PBL originados das teorias de aprendizagem que fornecem uma base científica para o método. Como conseqüência, este artigo descreve detalhadamente uma investigação científica sobre uma implementação prática da ABP, impulsionada pela investigação sobre como alcançar os objetivos: (i) Scaffolding professores e alunos na implementação do método PBL através do PBL-Coach; (ii) Investigar o tipo de recursos tecnológicos que são úteis e utilizáveis no processo PBL; (iii) Manter os princípios fundamentais do PBL para um processo de aprendizagem autêntico e eficaz. Como resultado, três estudos de caso são descritos detalhadamente para validar nossa investigação, consistindo em um cenário do mundo real com clientes, professores, tutores e alunos. Cada estudo de caso forneceu um bom nível de evidência de que o PBL-Coach, usado em um ambiente real e autêntico, pode promover um processo efetivo de aprendizado através de uma série de recursos tecnológicos cuidadosamente projetados. Incentivar os resultados proporcionou a motivação para evoluir o PBL-Coach, incluindo componentes adicionais de Realidade Aumentada e Virtual como trabalhos futuros.Problem-based learning (PBL) has gained widespread approval as a constructive, student-centered approach to teaching and learning. Advocating the use of real-life problems to initiate and motivate the learning process PBL is an inductive strategy promoting the understanding of new concepts as well as the development of professional skills, abilities and attitudes. Thus, it is fundamentally important that teachers and students implement PBL in conformity to its core principles. On the other hand, such implementation becomes a challenge, considering that PBL is fundamentally different from the traditional direct instruction methods. Without the appropriate pedagogical and technological support, PBL’s quality, effectiveness and authenticity are at risk. In an attempt to overcome these challenges, this paper presents the PBL-Coach Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Built upon the PBL principles originated from the learning theories which provide a scientific foundation to the method. As a consequence, this paper describes in detail a scientific investigation on a practical PBL implementation, driven by the inquiry on how to achieve the goals: (i) Scaffolding teachers and students in implementing the PBL method through PBL-Coach; (ii) Investigate the sort of technological resources that are useful and usable in the PBL process; (iii) Maintaining PBL core principles for an authentic and the effective learning process. As a result, three case studies are described in detail to validate our investigation, consisting of a real-world setting with clients, teachers, tutors and students. Each case study provided a good level of evidence that PBL-Coach, used in a real-world, authentic setting, can promote an effective learning process through a number of carefully designed technological resources.
