Os procedimentos metodológicos para alcançar esse objetivo são embasados na arqueologia foucaultiana, sendo a noção de formação discursiva o principal conceito mobilizado na análise. Assim, nas construções discursivas elaboradas em torno das notas da coluna social João Alberto, veiculada no jornal Diário de Pernambuco, foi possível verificar a existência de marcadores que distinguem o grupo retratado naquele espaço discursivo dos outros grupos sociais. A perspectiva teórica adotada para a pesquisa partiu de duas abordagens diferentes: primeiro, uma crítica mais geral ao espetáculo, como forma que as relações sociais adquirem no âmbito do capitalismo tardio, sendo a coluna social uma imagem desse espetáculo. Nesse ponto, a noção de mito barthesiana foi revisitada, na tentativa de compreender os mecanismos e operações que regem a manipulação dos signos que qualificam os “colunáveis” como distintivos; segundo, a apropriação das noções de gosto, capital, habitus e estilo de vida, de Pierre Bourdieu. Tais definições tornaram possível compreender a coluna social como mecanismo através do qual a elite encena a sua representação, reafirmando-se a partir de marcas distintivas e legitimando os seus estilos de vida, reunidos, assim, no processo social que Bourdieu denominou de distinção. As operações nas quais se fundam a representação distintiva da elite pertencem a um domínio muito mais amplo: a desigualdade social.CNPqBy considering gossip columns a journalistic genre that represents the tastes, behaviors and lifestyles of dominating groups, this research aims to analyze the ways through which these columns produce meanings of the social world and reproduce these to the society. The foucaultian archaeology is the core methodological procedure applied to achieve the research‟s goals, as well as it is the concept of “discursive formation”. The case study is the notes of one specific gossip column, the João Alberto column, published at the newspaper Diário de Pernambuco, in order to analyze the discursive constructions that are build upon it. The study identified the existence of discourse markers that distinguish the group portrayed in that specific discursive space from other social groups. The theoretical perspective adopted for the research was based on two different approaches. The first approach takes into account broader critics to the spectacle as the a form of social relations developed within the context of late capitalism, and therefore understanding gossip columns as an image of this spectacle. The barthesian notion of myth was revisited, in an attempt to understand the mechanisms and operations which underlie the manipulation of the signs that qualify “high-class” people as part of a distinctive group. The second approach is the appropriation of Pierre Bourdieu‟s notions of taste, capital, habitus and lifestyle. Such definitions made it possible to understand the gossip column as a mechanism through which the elite stages its own representation, reinforcing its power through distinctive marks and legitimating its lifestyle, in a social process that Bourdieu named “distinction”.
