Aproximadamente 30% dos portadores, não possuem controle das crises com a terapia farmacológica disponível. Diante deste contexto, o presente trabalho desenvolveu um complexo de inclusão com o óleo essencial de Eugenia gracillimae avaliou sua atividade anticonvulsivante.O óleo essencial foi caracterizado por GC-EMS. A produção do complexo de inclusão foi realizada através da incorporação do óleo essencial de Eugenia gracillima em betaciclodextrina, utilizando a razão molar do componente majoritário do óleo essencial (D-Germacrene). Para comprovar a complexação, foram realizadas as análises de Espectroscopia no Infravermelho por transformada de Fourier, Termogravimetria e Calorimetria de Varredura diferencial. A avaliação da toxicidade aguda do complexo de inclusão e do óleo essencial foi avaliada. A caracterização do óleo essencial demonstrou o componente majoritário D-Germacrene (16,1%). As análises realizadas para comprovar a complexação demonstraram que a houve a formação do complexo hóspede-hospedeiro entre a betaciclodextrina e o óleo essencial. A avaliação da atividade anticonvulsivante do óleo essencial e de seu respectivo complexo de inclusão demostrou que os dois obtiveram atividade, em congruência com outros óleos essenciais que possuem o mesmo componente majoritário, e potencial neuroprotetor nos animais, corroborando com resultados obtidos por óleos essenciais da espécie Eugenia spp., bem como redução da mortalidade porém, o desempenho do complexado demostrou maior efetividade, em doses iguais. Ambos também não demonstraram toxicidade aguda. Diante dos resultados obtidos, foi possível comprovar que o óleo essencial de Eugenia gracillima possui atividade anticonvulsivante, semelhante a outros óleos com o componente majoritário D Germacrene e a sua complexação com betaciclodextrina provocou melhora significativa da atividade anticonvulsivante frente ao o óleo essencial livre.Epilepsy reaches 1% of the world population and as a common reaction it causes convulsive crises. Approximately 30% of the patients do not have seizure control with the available pharmacological therapy. In this context, the present work developed an inclusion complex with the essential oil of Eugenia gracillima and evaluated its anticonvulsant activity. The essential oil was characterized by GC-EMS. The production of the inclusion complex was carried out by incorporating the essential oil of Eugenia gracillima in betacyclodextrin, using the molar ratio of the majority component of the essential oil (D-Germacrene). To prove the complexation, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetry and differential scanning calorimetry analyses were performed. The evaluation of the acute toxicity of the inclusion complex and essential oil was evaluated. The essential oil characterization demonstrated the major component D-Germacrene (16.1%). The analyses performed to prove the complexation showed that there was the formation of the host complex between the betacyclodextrin and the essential oil. The evaluation of the anticonvulsive activity of the essential oil and of its respective complex of inclusion demonstrated that the two obtained activity, in congruence with other essential oils that possess the same majority component, and neuroprotector potential in the animals, corroborating with results obtained by essential oils of the species Eugenia spp., as well as reduction of mortality, however, the performance of the complexado demonstrated greater effectiveness, in equal doses. Both also did not demonstrate acute toxicity.
