Resumo: The reflections and analyses produced in this article derive from a reading gesture affiliated with Discourse Analysis on an archive constituted from national and international media clippings. We analyzed in this file the ideological functioning of some discursive forms – such as "this is a little flu", "The constitution is me" and "So what?" – that materializes the way "Brazil in diminutive" is produced. This functioning stabilizes the semantic universe that articulates meanings of (dis)commitment with subjects, with spaces, with institutions, in short, with historical paths, pacing itself by a partitive work instead of the collective, in other words, this functioning (re)produces a government policy that goes against what would be proper to a rule of law: responsibility to the collectivity(ies). This ideological functioning that produces as one of its evidences "Brazil in diminutive" heightens political polarity, exposing the contradiction of a government that feeds on the practice of the mix between evidence and absurd, (re)producing totalitarian forms of power and of saying. The understanding of this functioning makes it visible that, for being discursively impacted due to the reduction of Brazilian social issues, today's political scene in Brazil is determined by the political game that denies, silences and censors the real conditions in which and through which the collectivity(ies) strike(s) and struggle(s), demanding recognition of its existence.
