Resumo: The conference with Joice Berth, called What is empowerment?, had as a purpose guide to address what is empowerment, based on the book written by Berth, which has the same title of the live, and it is a part of the collection Plural Feminisms, by Djamila Ribeiro, which all the books been written by black intellectuals. Besides that, the lecturer sought to explain the four dimensions of empowerment, which includes the cognitive, economical, political and psychological dimensions, as well as showing the emptiness of the term nowadays, being placed like something flimsy. Berth takes up the original concept of empowerment, which means something deep and complicated, mentioning intellectuals like Paulo Freire, Ângela Davis, among others.

Além disso, a conferencista buscou explicar as quatro dimensões do empoderamento, que abarcam a dimensão cognitiva, econômica, política e psicológica, bem como evidenciar o esvaziamento do termo nos dias de hoje, sendo ele vendido como algo superficial.
