Resumo: This text aims to show that doble face suffixes are distinguished in different categories ranging from lexical to morphophonological or simply phonological alternation. The followings are discussed: -or/dor, as suffix of one face, -ivo introduced as an argument; -ão/são, -dade/idade as doble faced suffixes; -ɛl -/vel, different suffixes with phonological properties in complementary grammar. The analysis is located in orphophonology with an emphasis on phonology, that is, in the derivational process in which phonological rules operate. The basis of the derivation is the theme of the past participle or verbal form and the suffixes are characterized in terms of location, place of insertion in the word. The phonological cycle also has its place. All the suffixes under study are present in the synchronic grammar. The highlight of the present study is a new look at them.

The highlight of the present study is a new look at them.
