Resumo: Resumo: Através do estudo do romance O Véu Pintado, de Somerset Maugham, publicado em 1925, e da sua adaptação cinematográfica realizada por John Curran (2006), pretende-se descrever o percurso vivencial da personagem principal feminina, Kitty Fane, e relacionar a sua viagem física até uma comunidade rural chinesa com um percurso vivencial e psicológico em direcção a uma purificação espiritual.Palavras-chave: O Véu Pintado; Somerset Maugham; John Curran; Literatura de viagens; Literatura; Cinema Abstract: Through the study of the novel The Painted Veil, by Somerset Maugham, published in 1925, and its cinematographic adaptation directed by John Curran (2006), we intend to describe the experiential journey of the main female character, Kitty Fane, and relate the her physical journey to a rural chinese community with an experiential and psychological path towards spiritual purification.Keywords: The Painted Veil; Somerset Maugham; John Curran; Travel Literature; Literature; Cinema
