Abstract This paper focuses on air navigation with GPS. The GPS system and the Loran -C, Omega and VOR/DME navigation system were compared. In order to get information about these system the 1995 Federal Radio Navigation Plan was used. It is shown that the GPS has got the best navigation performance. A set on comparisons was made: the difference between a relative (L1) and absolute positioning; the difference between a relative (L1/CA) and absolute positioning. These comparisons were made based on data collected from an aerial photogrametric project, with ESTEIO permission. It resulted in aircraft positioning by using the difference between a relative (L1/CA) and absolute GPS positioning. In absolute positioning it was found a longitudinal error of about 30 meters, a transversal error of about 3 meters and a altitude error of about 55 meters. This numbers permit state that to aerial navigation by GPS better than the classical methods. |
