Resumo: | This work deals with volumes representation and visualization of spatial data. It presents new possibilities to visualize soil’s properties on 3D. Three-dimensional data of soil’s properties were obtained from sampling points, and they were interpolated in order to be continuously represented in 3D space. The use of volumes allows one to visualize and to explore the phenomenon as a continuous body in the space, thus incorporating the third dimension in the cartography of soils. Volume representation and visualization improve the understanding of many scientific fields. To conclude with the outcome of volume representations of physical, chemical and morphological properties is a new way to visualize the soil and a new source of knowledge to the study of this phenomenon. |

To conclude with the outcome of volume representations of physical, chemical and morphological properties is a new way to visualize the soil and a new source of knowledge to the study of this phenomenon.O presente trabalho trata da representação e da visualização de volumes apartir de dados espaciais, e apresenta novas possibilidades para análise das propriedades dos solos. As representações das propriedades do solo foram geradas com interpolações tridimensionais a partir de amostras pontuais coletadas em campo. A manipulação dos volumes gerados, com programas computacionais, permite ver e explorar o fenômeno como um corpo contínuo, incorporando dessa forma, a terceira dimensão na cartografia de solos. As representações dos volumes por interpolação foram geradas com um SIG-3D denominado GRASS GIS; e para as visualizações e manipulações dos volumes gerados foi utilizado o programa Vis-5D, ambos de domínio público e desenvolvidos para plataforma LINUX. Os resultados obtidos são uma forma de visualizar as propriedades físicas, químicas e morfológicas dos solos que se constituem em uma fonte de novos conhecimentos para o seu estudo.
