Resumo: Objective: The advancement of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) has contributed to social and economic development and, thus, to the dissemination of information, bringing different cultures closer together, expanding commercial networks, etc. Considering the above, the aim of this study is to investigate what is the understanding that librarians of a Public Education Institution in southern Brazil have regarding Social Technologies and their usability in libraries as an inclusive educational tool. Methodology: The research is characterized as an exploratory and descriptive approach, developed with the investigation method called Case Study. This method has a qualitative character and uses three techniques for data collection and analysis triangulation: 1) Literature review – research on scientific articles by Brazilian authors published between 2016 and 2020; 2) Documentary research – considered examples published on institutional websites (Foundations, Organizations, and others); 3) Application of a semi-structured questionnaire to librarians of the Southern Brazil Public Education Institution. Results: The results showed evidence, given the analyzed data, that, in most librarians, the understanding of the description, characteristics and usability of Social Technologies in the library environment remained little known and/or fragmented. Conclusions: As the main theoretical-practical contribution of the study, the value of the debate among librarians, but also among other actors in the field of education, such as managers, teachers, and students, about a greater insertion of Social Technologies - as techniques, is ratified. knowledge, methodologies, practices, and instruments that generate inclusive education – in the library environment.
