OCUPAÇÃO POR POSSEIROS E ALTERAÇÃO DA VEGETAÇÃO EM MARÃIWATSÉDÉ, TERRA INDÍGENA XAVANTE

This work aimed to identify and quantify the area of natural vegetation altered by occupation of invaders in the Marãiwatsédé indigenous land located in the State of Mato Grosso, Brazil, as well as to quantify natural regeneration after disintrusion. Marãiwatsédé has an area of 165,770.99 hectares, located in the municipalities of São Félix do Araguaia, Alto Boa Vista and Bom Jesus do Araguaia. The identification and quantification of the altered vegetation areas of Marãiwatsédé was based on satellite images LANDSAT5, from Orbit 224 and Point 68, dated 1992, 2013 and 2016. Thematic maps were prepared considering the complex thematic classes (Forests, Gallery forest, typical Cerrado, floodplains and altered areas but in process of natural regeneration) and altered areas (used with agriculture and / or livestock) for the year 1992 and complex, in recovery (formation of new initial areas of natural vegetation) and delayed regeneration (areas where the natural process of initial regeneration was not started) for the years 2013 and 2016. In the year 1992 there were 23.24% of areas in the Marãiwatsédé indigenous land affected by agricultural activities and / or livestock, and 76.76% of the vegetative complex. In the year of its disintrusion, in 2013, said indigenous land contained 66.64% of altered areas and 33.36% of vegetative complex. The rate of change in the areas of Marãiwatsédé in the period between 1992, year of occupation by squatters, and 2013, year of the disintrusion was 2.07% year-1, an area equivalent to 3,431.45 hectares. With this it was verified that the occupation of Marãiwatsédé culminated in the reduction of 43.40% of the initial vegetative complex. OCCUPATION BY INVADERS AND ALTERATION OF VEGETATION IN MARIWATSÉDÉ, XAVANTE INDIGENOUS LAND
