Curso de Pós-Graduaçao em HistóriaInclui bibliografia e notas bibliográficasResumo: Este trabalho, sob o título "Igreja Católica Romana: Fronteiras do Discurso e Territorialidade do Sagrado," foi construído a partir da observação de que a Igreja mantém estratégias de expansão e preservação que configuram determinada territorialidade do sagrado. Nossa análise toma como referência o Concilio Vaticano II (1962-1965) e as repercussões no último quartel do século XX. Deste modo, partimos da desconstrução do discurso oficial da Igreja Católica Romana em quatro níveis escalares: a Sé Romana, O Conselho Episcopal Latino-americano (CELAM), a Conferência Nacional dos Bispos do Brasil (CNBB) e a Igreja Local da Arquidiocese de Curitiba. Relacionamos o plano discursivo com a interpretação simbólica da prática espacial da Igreja galvanizada pelas relações de poder. Sob esta abordagem teórica, redimensionamos a categoria analítica territorialidade do sagrado, que representa a chave de interpretação da dinâmica da ação institucional da Igreja. A dialética entre o plano discursivo e a prática espacial da Igreja justificam a. nossa concepção de uma História do espaço e das representações. De acordo com os procedimentos adotados, concluímos que duas fronteiras da territorialidade católica se estabelecem: a ecumênica, representada pela busca da restauração da unidade dos cristãos sob a égide da Igreja Católica Romana diante do impacto do pluralismo religioso, e a fronteira missionária e de evangelização, que busca a expansão e reestruturação da prática católica. Todas estas formas traduzem estratégias próprias da territorialidade católica pós - Concilio Vaticano II e as reverberações tardias no contexto do Brasil. O impacto do avanço neopentecostal das décadas de 1980 e 1990 e a crise da hegemonia católica ensejam novas territorialidades do sagrado no Brasil. Palavras-chave: História da Igreja Católica Romana; Discurso Religioso; Territorialidade do SagradoAbstract: The work under the title "Roman Catholic Church: Borders of the Discourse and Territoriality of the Sacred" was built upon the observation that the Church maintains expansion and preservation strategies which configure specific territorialities of the sacred. Our analysis takes as reference the Vatican II Council (1962-1965) and the repercussions in the last quarter of the 20th century. Thus, we start from the deconstruction of the official discourse of the Roman Catholic Church in four escalating levels: Roman Sé, the Latin-American Episcopal Council (CELAM), the Brazilian National Conference of Bishops (CNBB) and the Local Church of the Archdiocese of Curitiba. We related the discursive plan with the symbolic interpretation of the spatial practice of the Church galvanized by relationships of power. Under this theoretical approach we redimensioned the analytic category territoriality of the sacred that represents the key to the dynamics interpretation of the institutional action of the Church. The dialectics between the discursive plan and the spatial practice of the Church justifies our conception of a history of the space and representations. According to the adopted procedures we concluded that two borders of the Catholic territoriality settle down: the ecumenical, represented by the search of the unit restoration of Christians under the shield of the Roman Catholic Church before the impact of the religious pluralism and the missionary and evangelization border which aims at the expansion and restructuring of the catholic practice. All these forms demonstrate their own strategies of catholic territoriality after Vatican II Council and the late reverberations in the Brazilian context. The impact of the neopentecostal progress in the 1980's and 1990's and the crisis in the catholic hegemony contributed to the new territorialities of the sacred in Brazil.
