Defesa: Curitiba, 2005Inclui bibliografiaResumo: As aranhas do gênero Loxosceles, conhecidas popularmente por "aranhas marrons", são animais pertencentes à fauna sinantrópica urbana. São de pequeno porte, possuem hábitos noturnos e adaptaram-se a viver dentro dos domicílios humanos ou no peridomicílio, onde encontram condições ideais para abrigo e reprodução, além de alimento na forma de insetos que são atraídos pelos restos alimentares dos seres humanos. As condições citadas fazem com que a reprodução seja grande e a proximidade com o homem faz com que aconteçam freqüentes acidentes, ditos loxoscélicos. O veneno da aranha marrom é proteolítico e hemolítico, causando graves lesões cutâneas ou, em raros casos extremos, até o óbito. Essas aranhas ocorrem principalmente na América, desde os EUA até o Chile, sendo que no Brasil há relatos de acidentes em Minas Gerais, São Paulo e estados do sul. Curitiba é a cidade com maior número de casos por diversas causas, sendo que uma das principais é a falta de conhecimento pela população quanto aos hábitos da aranha, sintomas da picada, aparência do animal, procura de socorro, formas de combate, métodos de prevenção, etc. É, muitas vezes, confundida com outras espécies de aranhas. As políticas públicas na área da saúde preocupam-se, principalmente, com o tratamento de acidentados, relegando a segundo plano a divulgação dos citados dados à população, seja por meio de campanhas mais agressivas, utilizando-se de todos os meios que a mídia oferece, e da Educação Ambiental, formal e não formal. Um maior conhecimento sobre a aranha marrom com certeza faria com que diminuíssem os acidentes, trazendo mais tranqüilidade à população, a exemplo dos resultados obtidos com campanhas contra outros animais sinantrópicos, como o Aedes aegypti, mosquito transmissor da Dengue. O presente texto preocupa-se com a ocorrência da aranha marrom a partir do ano de 1986, quando registra-se um aumento do número de acidentes loxoscélicos em Curitiba por parte das autoridades da saúde. Os métodos utilizados para a execução deste trabalho foram basicamente a consulta bibliográfica geral e regional e a aplicação de um questionário entre os meses de março a agosto de 2005, através do qual procurou-se apurar o nível de conhecimento dos aspectos relativos à aranha junto à população em geral, principalmente estudantes, para investigação do nível de instrução com que o assunto vem sendo trabalhado. Os resultados foram surpreendentes quanto à forma superficial como o assunto é tratado ao nível escolar, e ao desconhecimento geral dos referidos aspectos ligados à aranha marrom, fato que, se revertido, poderia diminuir os alarmantes e crescentes números apresentados atualmente.Abstract: The spiders of genus Loxosceles, knowed in the popular language by brown spiders, are animals pertainings to the urban synantropic fauna. They have little charge, nocturnes habits and adjusted to live into the human buldings or in their periphery, where they find ideal conditions for shelter and reproduction, beyond to get food in the appearance of insects that are attracts by the human's food rests. The cited conditions makes the reproduction be very big and the nearness of the humans makes the accidents, named loxoscelics, become frequents. The poison of the brown spider is proteolytic and hemolytic, inducing grave cutaneous lesions or until the death. These spiders lives principally in America, from the EUA until Chile and in Brazil there are reports of accidents in many states how Minas Gerais, São Paulo and all the south states. Curitiba city is the local with the bigger number of cases for several reasons, being one of the principals the privation of the knowledge by the population about the spider's habits, symptoms of the bite, apparition of the animal, search for help, combat forms, prevention methods, etc. It is, many times, confounded with another spider's species. The public politics in the health's surface has preoccupation with the treatment of the victims, relegating to a second dimension the divulgation of the cited data to the population, or by campaigns offered by the mass communications, or by the Environment Education, formal or not. One most knowledge about the brown spider certainly will make a reduction of accidents, bringing more tranquility to the people, by the example of the results with campaigns contrary to another synantropics animals, how the Aedes aegypti, the Dengue's transmisor insect. The present text has worry with the occurrence of the brown spider since 1986, year when begin the register the enlarging of the number of loxoscelics accidents in Curitiba by the health's authorities.
