Curso de Pós-Graduaçao em LetrasInclui bibliografia e notas bibliográficasResumo: A presente pesquisa foi desenvolvida com base nos pressupostos teóricos e metodológicos da Sociolingüística Variacionista (LABOV, 1972) e teve como foco a variação pronominal no Português Brasileiro falado, delimitando como objeto de análise a variação entre os pronomes de Ia pessoa, nós e a gente. O corpus analisado faz parte do banco de dados do Projeto VARSUL - Variação Lingüística Urbana da Região Sul e compreendeu as entrevistas realizadas nas cidades catarinenses de Chapecó, Blumenau e Lages. O estudo teve como principal objetivo a investigação do processo variacional representado pela alternância dos pronomes nós e a gente em posição de sujeito, verificando os possíveis condicionamentos lingüísticos e sociais do fenômeno na fala dos catarinenses do interior do estado. Além da análise de ocorrências isoladas (exemplo 01), destacamos como contribuição aos estudos dessa variação a testagem dos fatores que denominamos seqüência binária e seqüência ternária (respectivamente exemplos 02 e 03), que consistem na ocorrência, junto a cada verbo que esteja formando um período composto, das duas possibilidades de expressão do sujeito, sejam elas iguais ou diferentes entre si. Verificamos se as seqüências revelaram contextos, lingüísticos e/ou sociais, que favoreceram a repetição ou alternância do primeiro pronome usado pelo falante no que consideramos um turno de fala (PHILIPS, 1976 apud RIBEIRO e GARCEZ, 1998). Exemplos: (01) Aí a gente tem que ficar em cima da ponte, pulo ou não pulo. (BLU SL0806) (02) E sem necessidade, porque nós estamos longe, tudo bem, mas a gente está habituado, né? (CHP SL 0656) (03) (...) que a gente morava numa casa nesse local mesmo que nós estamos sendo entrevistados aqui era mais do lado aqui a casa, a gente morou aqui, foi do meu avô, depois o meu pai comprou, hoje é minha. (LGS SL0084) Trabalhamos com 10 variáveis lingüísticas e 04 sociais, utilizando para análise dos dados o programa computacional VARBRUL (PINTZUK, 1988).Abstract: The present research was developed based on the theoretical and methodological presumptions of the Variationist Sociolinguistics (LABOV, 1972) and focused on the pronominal variation in the spoken Brazilian Portuguese, delimiting as the object of analysis the variation between the 1st person pronouns, nós and a gente. The analyzed corpus is part of the data bank of the Project VARSUL - Urban Linguistic Variation of the South Region and was compounded of interviews accomplished in the cities of Chapecó. Blumenau and Lages in the state of Santa Catarina. The study has as its main objective the investigation of the variational process represented by the alternation of the pronouns nós and a gente in the subject position, verifying the possible linguistic and social conditioning of the phenomenon in the catarinenses speech in the countryside of the state. Besides the analysis of isolated occurrence (example 01), we highlight as a contribution to the studies of this variation the testing of factors which we name binary sequence and ternary sequence, (respectively examples 02 and 03) that consist in the occurrence, together with each verb which is forming a compound sentence, two of the possibilities of the subject expression, being them equal or different between themselves. We verified whether the sequences revealed linguistic and/or social contexts, that favor the repetition or alternation of the first pronoun used by the speaker in what we consider a speech shift (PHILIPS, 1976 apud RIBEIRO and GARCEZ. 1998). Examples: (01) Aí a sente tem que ficar em cima da ponte, pulo ou não pulo. (Then a gente has to stay on the bridge, jump or not) (BLU SL0806). (02) E sem necessidade, porque nós estamos longe, tudo bem, mas a gente está habituado, né? (And without necessity, because nós are far, all right, but a sente is used to it, aren't we?) (CHP SL 0656). (03) (...) que a sente morava numa casa nesse local mesmo que nós estamos sendo entrevistados aqui era mais do lado aqui a casa, a sente morou aqui, foi do meu avô, depois o meu pai comprou, hoje é minha. (...) (that a sente lived in a house in this same place in which nós are being interviewed here it was more to the side here the house, a gente lived here, it was my grandfather's, then my father bought it, and today it is mine.).
