Defesa: Curitiba, 11/06/2014Inclui referênciasÁrea de concentração : EntomologiaResumo: Esse estudo é fundamentado em um detalhamento histórico, conceitual e prático de Ecologia Funcional e de sua relação à Ecologia de Comunidades, com o intuito de caracterizar assembleias de Apidae de dois conjuntos de levantamentos sistematizados sob distintas intensidades de redução do habitat natural. Os perfis funcionais compreenderam a síntese das características suportadas pela hipótese geral da existência de mudanças na diversidade funcional associadas às alterações ambientais. Essas características correspondem ao peso seco, amplitude da dieta, hábito de nidificação, recursos especiais para nidificação ou reprodução, nível de socialidade, cleptoparasitismo e fenologia. A pesquisa foi pautada nos gêneros de Apidae como unidade taxonômica operacional e constatações complementares forem decorrentes do estudo de sua composição taxonômica (dada pela distribuição da abundância e biomassa) e sua composição funcional. O primeiro conjunto de levantamentos conduzidos no entorna do Aeroporto Afonso Pena dentre a década de 1960 e o início dos anos 2000, apresentaram maior similaridade entre si quando contrapostos ao segundo conjunto, conduzido no Parque Estadual de Vila Velha também do início dos anos 2000. A riqueza de plantas, a temperatura e chuva anuais médias compreenderam variáveis ambientais que corroboraram com os resultados mencionados, apesar de possuírem uma relação indireta com os processos ambientais avaliados. O componente taxonômico isolado não abrangeu todas as relações encontradas uma vez que algumas características foram mais bem evidenciadas pela distribuição da biomassa no espaço funcional. O peso seco compreendeu um atributo importante na determinação de quinze grupos funcionais, apesar de parecer não estar diretamente relacionado à susceptibilidade dos mesmos. Cleptoparasitas, oligolécticos com requerimentos especiais para nidificação ou reprodução, ou gêneros que nidificam no solo foram os grupos mais associados às áreas em melhor estado de conservação. Além disso, as quedas na riqueza e equidade funcionais, além da riqueza de grupos funcionais, indicaram uma tendência na diminuição da diversidade funcional possivelmente relacionada à redução do habitat natural. A entropia quadrática de Rao (Q), a divergência e a dispersão funcionais não apresentaram tendências de variações dentre os estudos. Esse trabalho compreende uma perspectiva pouco abrangida para os estudos em Ecologia de abelhas ao considerar os atributos funcionais em um espaço multidimensional, além da estimativa dos índices de diversidade funcional, sendo também um incentivo à adoção e avaliação de novos aspectos sobre as respostas de Apidae às mudanças ambientais.Abstract: This study is based on a historical, conceptual and practical detailing of Functional Ecology and its relation to the Ecology of Communities, aiming to characterize Apidae assemblages of two sets of systematic surveys under different degrees of natural habitat lost. The functional profiles comprised a summary of the attributes supported by the general hypothesis of changes in functional diversity associated with environmental changes. These attributes correspond to the dry weight, diet breadth, nesting habit, special requirements for nesting or mate, level of sociality, cleptoparasitism and phenology. The research was supported by the Apidae genera as operational taxonomic unit and complementary findings were derived by the taxonomic composition (given by the distribution of the abundance and biomass) and by the functional composition. The first set of studies comprising fauna surveys conducted in the vicinity of Afonso Pena Airport from 1960’s and early 2000’s showed greater similarity among themselves when compared to the second set, from the Parque Estadual de Vila Velha, also conducted at the early 2000’s. Despite having an indirect relationship with the evaluated environmental processes, the richness of plants, temperature and annual precipitation averages comprised environmental variables that corroborate these results. Moreover, the taxonomic component alone did not reveal all the relationships founded since some features were best evidenced by the distribution of biomass in the functional space. The dry weight comprised an important variable to the conformation of fifteen functional groups, although it seems not direct related to the susceptibility of groups. Cleptoparasites, oligolectics with special requirements for nesting or mating, or oligolectics ground-nesting groups were most associated to areas in better condition of conservation. A trend of reduction of functional diversity was indicated and it is possibly related to the reduction of natural habitat and it is mainly based on the reduction of functional richness, functional evenness and functional groups richness. Rao’s quadratic entropy (Q), the functional divergence and functional dispersion showed no trends of variations among studies.
