Defesa: Curitiba, 31/03/2011Bibliografia: fls. 90-94Resumo: Essa pesquisa trata dos quatro anos de existência da Escola Islâmica do Paraná, fundada em 1969, em Curitiba. A escola possui relação direta com imigrantes árabes muçulmanos que, ao chegarem ao Brasil, sentiram necessidade de continuar a divulgar sua cultura e religião. A importância do trabalho reside, também na compreensão do papel desta etnia à sociedade curitibana, além de divulgar e problematizar a maneira como a cultura escolar, acontece em uma instituição privada islâmica que se fundamenta na manutenção dos valores e costumes trazidos pelos antepassados. Existem contribuições sociais e históricas que o estudo pode trazer como um maior conhecimento da cultura árabe e da história da educação no Estado. O termo árabe muçulmano remete aos imigrantes praticantes do Islamismo que chegaram ao Estado do Paraná na metade do século XX. A relação entre a chegada dos imigrantes árabes e a fundação e manutenção da escola auxilia na compreensão da instalação da etnia na cidade de Curitiba. A fundação da Sociedade Beneficente Muçulmana do Paraná teve um grande impacto para a estruturação dessa instituição de ensino. Mesmo sendo essa imigração estatisticamente pequena comparando-se com a chegada de outras etnias, os "turcos" construíram suas raízes na capital do Paraná. As fontes utilizadas foram em sua maioria os documentos escolares arquivados na instituição de ensino, entrevistas com os participantes da escolaAbstract: This research deals with the four years of the Islamic School of Paraná, founded in 1969 in Curitiba. The school has a direct relationship with the Arab immigrants who, upon arriving in Brazil, felt the need to continue to spread their culture and religion. The importance of the work lies also in understanding the role of this ethnicity in society Curitiba, and disclose and discuss how the school culture, occurs in a private institution that is based on Islamic values maintenance and customs brought by the ancestors. There are social and historical contributions that the study could, as a greater understanding of Arab culture and history of education in the state. The term refers to the Arab Muslim immigrants practicing Muslims who came to the State Government in the mid-twentieth century. The relationship between the arrival of Arab immigrants and the foundation and maintenance of the school helps in understanding the installation of ethnicity in the city of Curitiba. The foundation of the Muslim Beneficent Society of Paraná had a great impact on the structure of this institution. Even if this immigration statistically small compared with the arrival of other ethnic groups, the "Turks" have built their roots in the capital of Parana. The sources used are mostly school documents filed at the institution, interviews with participants of the school.129 f. : il.
