Defesa : Curitiba, 25/09/2019Inclui referências: p. 120-127Resumo: O espaço público da praça é um elemento urbano representativo da qualidade de vida nas cidades, por simbolizar o local de manifestação da vida pública e o exercício da cidadania. Esses espaços, entendidos a partir dessa dimensão física e social, refletem nas suas transformações a lógica de produção e reprodução do sistema capitalista. Nas discussões acerca da cidade contemporânea, a relevância das praças está relacionada à qualidade de vida urbana, portanto sua existência é fundamental para o exercício da democracia e do direito à cidade. Sendo assim, a distribuição desses espaços pode ressaltar as desigualdades observadas nas cidades, e seu estudo é fundamental para construção de uma sociedade mais justa e igualitária. Esta pesquisa apresenta uma análise intraurbana da relação entre a distribuição das praças de Curitiba e o fenômeno de desigualdade socioespacial, partindo da hipótese que a distribuição desses espaços ocorre de forma assimétrica pelo território. Para tanto, em um primeiro momento foi realizada uma análise quantitativa, e em seguida, para verificação da cobertura de praças no território, foi realizada uma análise espacial, utilizando como método a ferramenta Network Analysis, técnica que permite a análise de redes baseada na medição de distância entre áreas. A partir da discussão e da adoção de uma distância caminhável adequada para acesso a praças, com base em estudos reportados na literatura, foi possível determinar a abrangência espacial das praças e estimar a população atendida por esses espaços. Os dados obtidos a partir desta análise espacial foram cruzados com o indicador socioeconômico renda média, para verificar se a segregação residencial observada nas cidades contemporâneas é refletida nos espaços públicos. O resultado da análise quantitativa das praças aponta para a forma como esses espaços estão sendo tratados pelo poder público e a sua relevância na gestão das cidades. Além disso, o resultado do método de análise espacial proposto apresentou a forma heterogênea como os espaços públicos estão distribuídos em Curitiba e a desigualdade socioespacial existente, contribuindo para o fornecimento de subsídios para a administração pública no planejamento dos espaços públicos. Curitiba.Abstract: The public space of the square is a representative urban element of the quality of life in the city, for symbolizing the place of manifestation of public life and the exercise of citizenship. These spaces, understood from the physical and social dimension, reflect in their transformations the logic of production and reproduction of the capitalist system. In discussions about the contemporary city, the relevance of the squares is related to the urban life quality, therefore its existence is fundamental for the exercise of democracy and the right to the city. Thus, the distribution of these spaces may highlight the inequalities observed in cities, and its study is fundamental for building a fairer and more egalitarian society. This research presents an intraurban analysis of the relationship between the distribution of squares in Curitiba and the phenomenon of socio-spatial inequality. It is assumed that the distribution of these spaces occurs asymmetrically across the territory. To this end, at first a quantitative analysis of the squares was completed, and then, to verify the accessibility of the population to these spaces, a spatial analysis war performed using the Network Analysis tool as a method, technique that allows network analysis based on distance measurement between areas. From the discussion and the adoption of a walkable distance suitable for access to squares, based on studies reported in the literature, it was possible to determine the spatial coverage of the squares and to estimate the population served by these spaces. The data obtained from this spatial analysis were crossed with the socioeconomic indicator average income, to verify if the residential segregation observed in contemporary cities is reflected in public spaces. The result of the quantitative analysis of the squares aims to the way these spaces are being treated by the public sector and their significance in the city management. In addition, the result of the spatial analysis method presented the heterogeneous way public spaces are distributed in Curitiba and the existing socio-spatial inequality, contributing to the provision of subsidies for public administration in the planning of public spaces.
