Defesa : Curitiba, 05/08/2022Inclui referências: p. 109-115Resumo: Esta dissertação analisa os elementos narrativos da literatura de Ficção Científica para construir o ciberespaço e como ele se insere nas histórias do cyberpunk. Compõe o corpus da pesquisa os livros Neuromancer, de William Gibson, e Snow Crash, de Neal Stephenson, que foram estudados à luz da metodologia de análise da narrativa de Gérard Genette e dos seus estudos sobre hipertextualidade, assim como das discussões de Umberto Eco sobre literatura e sobre ficção. A dissertação conta ainda com um levantamento histórico da Ficção Científica e sua relação com temas de relevância social. Para o apoio teórico sobre ciberespaço, utilizamos os estudos de Pierre Lévy, André Lemos e Adriana Amaral, esta última que também nos permitiu estabelecer uma conexão entre a cibercultura e o cyberpunk. Finalmente o subgênero contou com o suporte teórico de Dani Cavallaro e Sabine Heuser. Como resultado foi possível verificar que a evolução do ciberespaço de Gibson para o de Stephenson acompanhou o desenvolvimento das tecnologias relacionadas à internet. O pioneirismo de ambos os autores também se mostrou bastante evidente ao longo do estudo, sendo que a obra de Gibson serviu de base para que outros autores explorassem o ambiente virtual nos anos seguintes. Stephenson também demonstrou estar na vanguarda ao criar palavras como "avatar" e "metaverso". Quanto ao uso narrativo dos ambientes virtuais, Gibson pouco diferencia o que acontece na matrix, daquilo que é descrito do lado de fora, enquanto Stephenson deixa sempre bastante evidente quando suas personagens estão no ciberespaço e quando estão do lado de fora.Abstract: This dissertation analyzes the narrative elements of Science Fiction literature to build cyberspace and how it fits into cyberpunk stories. The research corpus comprises the books Neuromancer, by William Gibson, and Snow Crash, by Neal Stephenson, which were studied in the light of Gérard Genette's narrative methodology and his studies on hypertextuality, as well as Umberto Eco's research on literature and fiction. The dissertation also has a historical survey of Science Fiction and its relationship with themes of social relevance. For theoretical support on cyberspace, we used the studies of Pierre Lévy, André Lemos and Adriana Amaral, who also establishes a connection between cyberculture and cyberpunk. Finally, the contour subgenre with the theoretical support of Dani Cavallaro and Sabine Heuser. As a result, it was possible to verify the evolution of cyberspace from Gibson to Stephenson followed the development of technologies related to the internet. The pioneering spirit of both authors was also very evident throughout the study, and Gibson's work served as a basis for other authors to explore the virtual environment in the following years. Stephenson must also be at the forefront of creating words like "avatar" and "metaverse".
