Os resultados mostraram que os tentáculos, região dorsal da cabeça e o pé das espécies citadas, não apresentam diferença a nível histológico. A epiderme destas regiões mostrou-se estar constituída predominantemente por células epiteliais cilíndricas, células ciliadas e células caliciformes. A região sub-epidermal apresentou-se com grande quantidade de células glandulares e com reações distintas ao P.A.S. e ao A.B.. Toda a região céfalo-podal está sustentada por tecido conjuntivo frouxo que se localiza mais perifericamente em relação ao denso. Este tecido está constituído por fibras colágenas, fibras reticulares, fibroblastos, células pigmentadas, fibras musculares, células nervosas sensoriais e mastócitos. Foi empregado, além da fixação convencional, a fixação por irradiação de microondas, obtendo-se bons resultados, especialmente na redução do tempo de processamento. As regiões expostas mostraram uma grande quantidade de células glandulares em toda a sua extensão, podendo-se então sugerir que o seu produto de secreção (muco), poderia ser um dos fatores responsáveis pela predileção do miracídio a estas regiões.Abstract: The cephalo-podalic region of Lymnaea columella (Say, 1817), Physa cubensis (Pfeifferi, 1839) and Physa marmorata (Guilding, 1828) - which are possible intermediate hosts of Fasciola hepatica (Linnaeus, 1758) - was studied by histological comparison using an optical microscope. The results showed that the tentacles, the dorsal region or the head and the foot of the quoted species were not differentiated from each other in a histological level. The epidermis of such regions showed to be predominantly constituted by epithelial cylindric cells, ciliated cells and globe cells. The subepidermal region appeared with great amount of gland cells and with distinctive reactions to the P.A.S. and to the A.B.. All the cephalooodalic region is supported by loose connective tissue which is located more towards the periphery than the dense one. This tissue is constituted by collagen fibers, reticular fibers, fibrobalsts, pigmentary cells, muscular fibers, sensorial nervous cells and mastocytes. Besides the conventional means of fixation, microwave radiation was employed. This procedure provided good results specially regarding the reduction of time in the processing. The exposed regions showed a great quantity of gland cells in all their extension.
