Através da pesquisa, realizada principalmente em publicações governamentais e jornais diários curitibanos, ressalto a importância da educação preventiva durante as duas epidemias e o investimento e insistência de órgãos médico-governamentais no sentido de alterar práticas e comportamentos para tentar evitar a propagação da doença em Curitiba, visto que não havia vacina ou medicamentos específicos para prevenir ou curar a gripe epidêmica no final dos anos 1910 e no início do século XXI. Discuto indícios esparsos das atividades da população, diariamente envolvida com as medidas implementadas a partir de ditames de médicos e governantes para o combate à epidemia. Evidencio como a rotina dos moradores da capital paranaense e o relacionamento dessas pessoas, foram afetados no processo de (re)organização de serviços de saúde para atender os gripados e por iniciativas de instituições públicas e privadas ou de particulares que se dedicaram a socorrer os doentes e as famílias mais pobres. Entre as fontes utilizadas, destaco os jornais diários, que difundiam instruções/informes (p. ex. locais de atendimento aos gripados), exerciam função educativa (dos "conselhos ao povo" de 1918, ao trecho de infográfico "Como faço para evitar a gripe?", de 2009) e, também, explicitavam divergências entre médicos, dúvidas da população e, em 2009, alertavam sobre falsas notícias ou golpes. Nos relatos diários dos jornais foi possível perceber como durante a gripe A (H1N1) a publicação de lembranças da gripe espanhola, uma memória construída, foi parte da elaboração dos sentidos dados à epidemia de 2009 em Curitiba, concorrendo para a divulgação de ações adotadas no combate à doença pelos órgãos de saúde.Abstract: This thesis is a comparative historical social study between the influenza epidemic of 1918 and that of 2009, in Curitiba, capital of the state of Paraná. The considerations of Marc Bloch about comparative history are the main theoretical and methodological references. Through the research, carried out mainly in government publications and daily newspapers in Curitiba, the importance of preventive education during the two epidemics and the investment and insistence of medical-government agencies to change practices and behaviors is emphasized, in efforts to prevent the spread of the disease in Curitiba, since there was no specific vaccine or medication to prevent or cure the influenza epidemic in the late 1910s and early 21st century. I discuss sparse evidence of the population activities, involved daily with the measurements implemented by the dictates of doctors and government officials to combat the epidemic. It is shown how the routine of the inhabitants of the capital of Paraná and the relationship between the people was affected by the process of (re) organization of health services to tend to flu patients and by the initiatives of public and private institutions or individuals who dedicated themselves to helping the sick and poorest families. Among the sources used, I would like to highlight the daily newspapers, which distributed instructions/reports (for example, places of care for people with the flu), performed an educational function (from the "people's advices" of 1918, to the infographic section "How do I avoid the flu?", from 2009) and also called attention to the divergences between doctors, population doubts and, in 2009, warned about fake news or scams.
