A análise visual tem sido um dos principais métodos usados para avaliar o risco de queda das árvores. Desta forma, essa pesquisa objetivou identificar e avaliar os fatores associados ao risco de queda de árvores nas ruas de Curitiba - PR. Para isto, utilizaram-se dados secundários fornecidos pela Prefeitura Municipal de Curitiba (PMC) e dados coletados em campo. A partir dos dados de corte de árvores com risco de queda fornecidos pela PMC, as variáveis foram processadas em: espacialização dos cortes das árvores por espécie, por bairro e por motivo de corte. Foram selecionadas em campo as árvores de Acer negundo L. e Tipuana tipu (Benth.) Kuntze. Essas espécies foram escolhidas por estarem entre as mais plantadas e cortadas nas ruas curitibanas. Baseado no inventário realizado em 2011 foram escolhidas 240 árvores adultas, sendo 120 árvores por espécie, com DAP ? 15 cm. Dessas 120 árvores, selecionou-se 60 que apresentavam sinais de injúrias, apodrecimento ou outros fatores que podem prejudicar o desenvolvimento das árvores; e 60 indivíduos que não apresentavam ou apresentavam percentagem inferior a 50% de injúrias, rachaduras e apodrecimento. Foram selecionados seis bairros que detinham as maiores quantidades de indivíduos de A. negundo e T. tipu. Para a análise do risco de queda das árvores foi utilizado um método de avaliação visual. Para definir os cenários de risco de queda das árvores de A. negundo e T. tipu, adotou-se a técnica multivariada de análise discriminante, utilizando o programa SPSS Statistics 17.0. Os resultados indicaram que a T. tipu foi a espécie mais cortada nas ruas de Curitiba, representando 15%. Os bairros CIC, Boqueirão e Água Verde foram os que apresentaram maior número de árvores cortadas, totalizando 17%. Os principais motivos de corte de árvores em Curitiba estão associados aos conflitos das árvores com o meio-físico e aos problemas fitossanitários, representando 64%. As árvores de A. negundo e T. tipu encontram-se em estágio maduro, com pouco ou nenhum plantio recente nas vias, 78% dessas árvores encontram-se em vias de tráfego rápido. As variáveis estatisticamente significativas na avaliação do risco de queda do A. negundo foram a condição geral do tronco, do colo, da copa, quebra de calçada, DAP e tipo de edificação. Para T. tipu as condições gerais do tronco, da copa, do colo, a quebra de calçada, inclinação do tronco e fluxo geral foram as variáveis mais relevantes na análise do risco de queda. Esses resultados reforçam a importância da escolha da espécie e do local de plantio, pois as características inerentes à espécie e as condições do local foram relevantes nas avaliações do risco de queda das árvores analisadas. Tipuana tipu.Abstract: The lack of information on the risk of falling trees associated with the presence of targets in urban areas has generated numerous problems, such as personal and material damages. Visual analysis has been one of the main methods used to assess the risk of falling trees. In this way, this research aimed to identify and evaluate the factors associated with tree fall risk in the streets of Curitiba - PR. For this, we used secondary data provided by Curitiba City Hall (PMC) and data collected in the field. From the tree cutting data of trees with risk of fall provided by PMC, the variables were processed in: spatialization of tree cutting by species, by neighborhood and for reasons of cutting. The trees of Acer negundo L. and Tipuana tipu (Benth.) Kuntze were selected in the field. These species were chosen because they are among the most planted and cut species in the streets of Curitiba. Based on the inventory carried out in 2011, 240 adult trees were chosen, being 120 trees per species, with DAP ? 15 cm. Of these 120 trees, 60 were selected that showed signs of injuries, rotting or other factors that could impair the development of the trees; and 60 individuals which did not present or had a percentage of less than 50% of injuries, cracks and rot. Six neighborhoods with the largest numbers of A. negundo and T. tipu individuals were selected. For the analysis of the risk of falling trees was used a method of visual evaluation. To define the risk scenarios for the fall of A. negundo and T. tipu Trees, the multivariate discriminant analysis technique was adopted using the SPSS Statistics 17.0 program. The results indicated that T. tipu was the most cut species in the streets of Curitiba, representing 15%. The CIC, Boqueirão and Água Verde districts were the ones with the highest number of trees cut, totaling 17%. The main reasons for tree cutting in Curitiba are associated to tree conflicts with the physical environment and phytosanitary problems, accounting for 64%. The trees of A. negundo and T. tipu are in a mature stage, with little or no recent planting in the streets. 78% of these trees are in fast traffic streets. The trees presented adequate urban environment characteristics. The statistically significant variables in the evaluation of the risk of fall of A. negundo were the general condition of the trunk, the neck, the canopy, the breakage of the sidewalk, DAP and type of edification. For T. tipu the general conditions of the trunk, crown, lap, sidewalk breakage, trunk inclination and general flow were the most relevant variables in the fall risk analysis. These results reinforce the importance of the choice of the species and the planting site, since the inherent characteristics of the species and the local conditions were relevant in evaluating the risk of fall of the trees of analyzed.
