A investigação desses discursos passa pelo pressuposto, de que essa instituição total tem como finalidade a manutenção da Ordem Pública à partir do Controle Social. Para tanto, será analisado o Asilo Psiquiátrico através das considerações de Goffman e Foucault, entendendo as relações complexas desenvolvidas conforme o poder-saber da psiquiatria, bem como, a fabricação da figura do louco ao longo dos séculos. Além disso, é exposto um panorama histórico do nascimento dessa instituição no Brasil, desde a introdução dos ideais alienistas no Rio de Janeiro e a criação do Hospício D. Pedro II, até a edificação do Hospício Nossa Senhora da Luz em Curitiba. Esse histórico é realizado em atenção aos discursos e argumentos utilizados para a construção desse estabelecimento especial, que estavam, principalmente, à serviço do Higienismo Social e da Modernização.Abstract: This article seeks to understand the discourses that weaved the need instilled, at the turn of the XIX-XX century, for the creation of the first Psychiatric Asylum in Curitiba. The investigation of these discourses presupposes that this total institution has the purpose of maintaining the Public Order from the Social Control. To this end, the Psychiatric Asylum will be analyzed through the considerations of Goffman and Foucault, understanding the complex relationships developed according to the power of knowledge of psychiatry, as well as the manufacture of the figure of the mad over the centuries. In addition, a historical panorama of the birth of this institution in Brazil is presented, from the introduction of alienist ideals in Rio de Janeiro and the creation of the D. Pedro II Hospice, to the construction of the Nossa Senhora da Luz Hospice in Curitiba.
