Defesa: Curitiba, 10/04/2014Inclui referênciasResumo: O presente trabalho tem como tema central de estudo o perfil cognitivo de pessoas adultas infectadas pelo vírus da Hepatite C (HCV). A hepatite C pode ser definida como uma doença infecciosa, que se desenvolve por uma atividade inflamatória, que pode gerar um comprometimento no Sistema Nervoso Central, reduzindo significativamente a qualidade de vida do indivíduo, inclusive com o aparecimento de fadiga e sintomas depressivos. Por isso, tornou-se necessário aprofundar a relação entre HCV e alterações em processos mentais e cognitivos, por meio da avaliação neuropsicológica de funções executivas, as quais se referem, de forma geral, à capacidade do sujeito de engajar-se em comportamentos orientados a objetivos. O presente trabalho retrata um estudo sobre a avaliação de funções executivas (em especial, controle inibitório) de pessoas infectadas pelo vírus da Hepatite C, utilizando os testes Stroop e Trilhas Coloridas. Os instrumentos da bateria neuropsicológica foram aplicados em um único encontro. Neste estudo, foram avaliadas vinte pessoas adultas infectadas pelo vírus HCV, sendo 60% do gênero masculino. As idades variaram de 39 a 66 anos, com média de 46 anos (DP =8,0). Quanto à escolaridade, a média foi de 9,1 anos (DP = 2,6). O grupo controle é composto por 39 pessoas, sendo 56% do gênero masculino, com idade média de 43 anos (DP=11) e escolaridade média de 9,2 anos. Foram coletados informações clínicas dos participantes, que demonstraram que 55% eram virgens de tratamento e aproximadamente 78% apresentaram genótipo 1 e uma grande variabilidade na medida de PCR. Comparando o grupo controle com grupo clinico no desempenho dos testes, os resultados mostraram que a diferença não foi significativa no Trilhas Coloridas - forma 2 (t(57) = .545; p=.588) nem no Stroop Parte 3 (t(57) = -1,735; p=.088). A média dos participantes ficou abaixo do esperado no teste Stroop Cores e Palavras (M=30). Já em relação ao subteste Trilhas Coloridas - parte 2, o tempo médio do grupo clínico, quando comparados a pessoas da mesma idade, apresentou-se dentro da média. Com a análise de escolaridade com o desempenho dos testes, observou-se uma correlação moderada e positiva nos testes: Trilhas Coloridas Forma 2 (r=.32; p= 0,13) e Stroop Cores e Palavras (r=.31, p= 0,15), mostrando que a maior escolaridade resulta em maiores escores em testes neuropsicológicos. A complexidade de fatores que interagem com o desempenho cognitivo no grupo de pessoas com HCV tornou-se evidente neste estudo. Reforça-se a relevância de investigar de que forma o vírus HCV afeta os aspectos cognitivos do indivíduo, em especial investigar as funções executivas de pessoas infectadas. Palavras-chaves: Neuropsicologia, Hepatite C, Controle inibitório.Abstract: The present study focused on investigating the cognitive profile of adults infected with hepatitis C virus (HCV). Hepatitis C can be defined as an infectious disease that develops an inflammatory activity, which may cause an impairment in the central nervous system, significantly reducing the quality of life of individuals, including the onset of fatigue and depressive symptoms. Therefore, it became necessary to deepen the understanding of the relationship between HCV and changes in mental and cognitive processes, through neuropsychological assessment of executive functions, which refer, in general to, the individual's capacity to engage in behavior-oriented goals. This study presented the assessment of executive functions (in particular, inhibitory control) in patients infected with hepatitis C virus using the Stroop Test (ST) and the Colored Trail Making Test (CTMT). The battery of neuropsychological instruments was administered in a single session. Twenty adults infected with HCV were evaluated, 60 % were males. Their ages ranged from 39 to 66 years of age, the mean age was 46 years (SD = 8). Regarding education, the average was 9.1 years (SD=2.6). The control group consisted of 39 participants, 56% males, mean age of 43 years (SD=11) and average education of 9.2 years. Clinical information of the participants was collected and 55% never received treatment, 78% presented genotype 1, and showed a large variability of PCR. Comparing the control group with the clinical group, results showed no significant differences on the CTMT - form 2 (t(57) = .545, p = . 588) nor on the ST- Part 3 (t (57) = -1.735, p = .088). The mean score on the Stroop Test- Part 3 was below the expected mean indicated in the normative data (M=30). In relation to the subtest Colored Trails- Part 2, most of the participants had an average performance, when compared to people of the same age. Years of education, when compared with the performance on the tests, generated a moderate positive correlation: Form 2 Colored Trails (r=.32; p= 0,13) and Stroop Test Part 3 (r=.31, p= 0,15), showing that higher the education correlated with higher scores in neuropsychological tests. The complexity of the factors that interact with cognitive performance within the HCV group was observed. The importance of investigating how HCV affects cognitive aspects of individuals, in particular the executive functions of infected people, needs further research.
