Não se tratou de um evento isolado, ao contrário, fez parte de um conjunto de reformas pelas quais a cidade passava na época, relacionado ao Plano Diretor, que reestruturou diversos espaços e incrementou a área cultural, incluindo a criação da Fundação Cultural de Curitiba. Além do contexto das políticas culturais, que viabilizaram a inauguração da gibiteca, havia agentes culturais interessados em cria-la, que gestavam essa ideia há anos, como era o caso do arquiteto e urbanista Key Imaguire Junior. Seu intento era criar um espaço de formação profissional para quadrinistas, com cursos, palestras, e auxílio para adentrar no mercado. Esta tese analisa os primeiros 15 anos da gibiteca, entre 1982 e 1992, a fim de verificar as atividades exercidas por esta e a sua função com parte do contexto político cultural da capital paranaense. Partindo da criação do espaço como um espaço de formação, mas que também visava auxiliar pretensos quadrinistas a adentrarem o mercado editorial de gibis, é analisado se houve êxito dentro do contexto proposto. Para tanto, são trabalhados os diversos eventos realizados pela gibiteca, como exposições, reuniões, e eventos maiores, os quais possibilitavam um contato maior entre leitores e criadores, e muitas vezes traziam a oportunidade de que os quadrinistas formados pela gibiteca comercializassem seu trabalho. Para esta análise, se partiu do contexto político cultural de Curitiba, que visava fomentar a cultura na cidade através da Fundação Cultural de Curitiba. Também será avaliada a partir do conceito de "cultura de histórias em quadrinhos", cunhado por Matthew Pustz, o qual afirma que é comum os fãs de quadrinhos buscarem o que ele chama de "lugares de conforto". Já a "cultura de fã" é um elemento presente não apenas em relação aos quadrinhos, mas outros objetos midiáticos, e justamente por isso também será discutida, para compreender aqueles que se organizam através de fã clubes e, em reuniões maiores, em convenções, e observar como a Gibiteca de Curitiba se articula a essas atividades. À luz do contexto dos anos 1980 e 1990, tendo em vista os problemas do mercado de gibis brasileiro e as transformações nas políticas culturais ao longo daqueles anos, a Gibiteca de Curitiba será analisada com base nos conceitos acima mencionados, a fim de compreender quais as funções que ela exerceu em seus primeiros 15 anos, e como o fez. Para cumprir esses objetivos, se recorreu principalmente aos jornais curitibanos, que consistem nas principais fontes utilizadas, aos relatórios da Fundação Cultural de Curitiba, ao livro "Memória da Curitiba Urbana", do IPPUC, e às entrevistas efetuadas com alguns nomes importantes que passaram pela gibiteca, seja como frequentadores, professores ou na coordenação desta.Abstract: In 1982, the Curitiba Gibiteca was inaugurated. It was not an isolated event, on the contrary, it was part of a set of reforms that the city was going through at the time, related to the Master Plan, which restructured several spaces and increased the cultural area, including the creation of the Cultural Foundation of Curitiba. In addition to the context of cultural policies, which enabled the opening of the library, there were cultural agents interested in creating it, who had been carrying this idea for years, as was the case of architect and urban planner Key Imaguire Junior. His intention was to create a professional training space for comic book artists, with courses, lectures, and help to enter the market. This thesis analyzes the first 15 years of the gibiteca, between 1982 and 1992, to verify its activities and its function as part of the cultural and politic context of Parana’s capital. Starting from the creation of the space as a formation space, but that also aim to help would-be comic book artists to get in the comic books publishing market, its analyzed if there was success whithin of the proposed context. Therefore, will be analyzed the events realyzed by the gibiteca, as exhibitions, meetings, and bigger conventions, that would make possible a bigger access between readers and creators, and many times would bring the opportunity that the comic book artists that learned in the gibiteca sell his work. The library will be analyzed as part of the cultural political context of Curitiba, which aimed to foster culture in the city through the Cultural Foundation of Curitiba. It will also be evaluated from the concept of "comic book culture", coined by Matthew Pustz, who states that it is common for comic book fans to seek what he calls "comfort places." The "fan culture" is an element present not only in relation to comics, but other media objects, and precisely for this reason it will also be discussed, to understand those who organize themselves through fan clubs and, in larger meetings, in conventions, and observe how the Curitiba Gibiteca is articulated to these activities. In light of the context of the 1980s and 1990s, in view of the problems of the Brazilian comic book market and the transformations in cultural policies over those years, the Curitiba Gibiteca will be analyzed based on the concepts mentioned above, in order to understand what functions it performed in its first 15 years, and how it did so.
