Defesa : Curitiba, 06/11/2020Inclui referências: p. 193-198Resumo: O papel da mulher no mundo ocidental são assuntos dos mais discutidos até os dias de hoje, principalmente quando esse aspecto é observado sob o prisma da religião, em especial o Cristianismo. A literatura acaba por retratar em suas personagens as variadas posições adquiridas, ou impostas, ao gênero feminino. Com foco em três peças teatrais, representando sociedades distintas Brasil, Estados Unidos e Portugal temos como objetivo principal analisar as representações femininas e como as personagens se configuram como modelos de diferentes questões sociais e religiosas, tanto de forma a aproximá-las quanto distanciá-las. Para tanto, em um primeiro momento, exploraremos a evolução histórica ocorrida com relação ao feminino e sua posição no universo religioso, desde a Deusa Mãe até as bruxas servas de Satã. Em seguida, a peça The Crucible (1953), de Arthur Miller (1915 2005), nos apresenta Abigail Williams e Tituba, ambas acusadas de bruxaria na Nova Inglaterra do século XVIII. Por meio do estudo dessas personagens, procuramos dissertar sobre como a magia e a associação ao Demônio serviria de forma de aquisição poder e libertação feminina no contexto teocrático puritano. Já na obra de Natália Correia (1923 1993), A Pécora (escrita em 1967 e publicada em 1983), analisaremos a relação das mulheres com a santidade, baseados na personagem Melânia, principalmente quando observamos a figura de Maria como Nossa Senhora de Fátima, ícone da fé lusitana. Então, a análise da peça Auto da Compadecida (1955), de Ariano Suassuna (1927 2014), terá como cerne as personagens da Compadecida e da Mulher do Padeiro. Com essa obra, podemos perceber as relações da religiosidade popular brasileira com o feminino, além das questões que envolvem a relação entre o feminino sagrado e o humano sob o olhar do povo. Em um último momento, ao comparar as seis personagens, é possível depreender que, no universo cristão representado por essas peças, mesmo que o feminino sagrado e o profano possam ser aproximados em determinadas situações, não é possível que um e outro pertençam ao mesmo plano. Se a mulher não se adequa às normas impostos pela sociedade patriarcal, ela será excluída, seja em vida ou condenada após a morte. Palavras-chave: The Crucible; A Pécora; Auto da Compadecida; Personagens femininas; Sagrado.Abstract: The role of women in the Western world is one of the most discussed subjects to this day, principally when this aspect is observed from the perspective of religion, especially Christianity. Literature, as a reflection of society, ends up portraying in its characters the various positions acquired, or imposed, on the female gender. With a focus on three plays, representing different societies - Brazil, United States and Portugal - our main objective is to analyze the female representations and how the characters are configured as role models of different social and religious issues, both in order to bring them together and to distance them. For that, in a first moment, we will explore the historical evolution occurred in relation to the feminine and her position in the religious universe, from the Mother Goddess to the witches who are servants of Satan. Then, the play The Crucible (1953), by Arthur Miller (1915 - 2005), presents Abigail Williams and Tituba, both accused of witchcraft in 18th century New England. Through the study of these characters, we tried to talk about how magic and the association with the Devil would serve as a form of empowerment and liberation for women in the Puritan theocratic context. In the work of Natália Correia (1923 - 1993), A Pécora (written in 1967 and published in 1983), we explored the relationship of women with holiness, based on the character Melânia, especially when we observe the figure of Mary as Our Lady of Fátima, icon of the Lusitanian faith. Then, the analysis of the play Auto da Compadecida (1955), by Ariano Suassuna (1927 - 2014), will have at its heart the characters of Compadecida and Mulher do Padeiro. With this work, we can see the relations of Brazilian popular religiosity with the feminine, in addition to the issues surrounding the relationship between the sacred feminine and the human under the eyes of the people. In a last moment, when comparing the six characters, it is possible to conclude that, in the Christian universe represented by these pieces, even though the sacred and the profane feminine can be brought together in certain situations, it is not possible that one and the other belong to the same plane . If the woman does not conform to the norms imposed by the patriarchal society, she will be excluded, either in life or condemned after death.
