Electrolyte balance in diets for growing swine

Resumo: | The effects of electrolyte balance (EB) in diets for growing swine were evaluated. Were used 30 commercial hybrid swine, in the growth phase, with initial body weight 23.48 ± 1.68 kg and final of 55.98 ± 4.05 kg, distributed in a completely randomized experimental design with five treatments (100, 150, 200, 250 e 300 mEq per kg -1 ) and three replications, and the experimental unit composed of one male and one female, in the box. For correction of EB, inclusions were used sodium bicarbonate and either calcium chloride. The average temperature was 25.89 ± 1.53 °C with relative humidity of the air 78.5 ± 11.15%, black globe temperature of 26.1 ± 2.64 °C and temperature index calculate of 75.0 ± 2.69, conditions considered as moderated thermal comfort. The EB didn't influence on performance parameters (daily feed intake, daily gain, feed conversion) for growing swine, however, led to changes in the stools of growing swine to diarrhea and loose stools, the EB of 200 mEq per kg-1 characterized more loose stools and the EB of 250 mEq per kg-1 characterized more diarrhea. The EB didn't influence on physiological parameters and levels of electrolytes in the blood of animals. The correction of EB ration isn't influence in performance, so promotes changes in stool consistency when using diets in the range 100 to 300 mEq per kg -1. |

Realizou-se este trabalho com o objetivo de estudar os efeitos do balanço eletrolítico (BE) em rações para suínos em crescimento. Foram utilizados 30 leitões híbridos comerciais, com peso inicial 23,48 ± 1,68 kg e final de 55,98 ± 4,05 kg, distribuídos em delineamento experimental inteiramente casualisado, com cinco tratamentos (100, 150, 200, 250 e 300 mEq por kg-1) e três repetições, sendo a unidade experimental composta por um macho e uma fêmea, na baia. Para correção do BE, foram incluídos bicarbonato de sódio e/ou cloreto de cálcio. A temperatura observada foi 25,9 ± 1,5 °C, com umidade relativa de 78,5 ± 11,2%, temperatura de globo negro 26,1 ± 2,6 °C e índice de temperatura de globo e umidade calculados em 75,0 ± 2,7. O BE não influenciou o consumo de ração, o ganho de peso e a conversão alimentar dos suínos; no entanto, promoveu alterações na consistência física das fezes para as caracterizadas como pastosas e diarreicas, em que o BE de 250 mEq por kg-1 apresentou fezes mais diarreicas e o BE de 200 mEq por kg-1 apresentou fezes mais pastosas, podendo determinada alteração interferir na absorção de nutriente ou até mesmo no estado sanitário dos animais. Não houve efeito do BE nas temperaturas retal e superficial, na frequência respiratória e nos níveis de cloro, sódio e potássio no sangue.
