Resumo: | The study aimed to predict genetic values through selection methods and estimate genetic parameters in half-brother progenies of Eucalyptus camaldulensis Dehnh using REML/BLUP procedures. Data were obtained from a progeny test carried out at the Experimental Station of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Mato Grosso State– IFMT/Campus São Vicente, in Santo Antônio do Leverger, Mato Grosso. Experimental design was random blocks with 132 progenies, five repetitions and three plants per parcel in single rows with 3 m x 2 m space between trees. At four years of age, Diameter at Breast Height (DAP) and Total Height (ALTT) were evaluated through REML/BLUP procedures using the software SELEGEN. Results showed that heritability values were median for DAP and low for ALTT. This demonstrates some genetic control and potential for selection. Experimental variation coefficients ranged from 23% to 29%, considered acceptable for a field trial. Accuracy was low to moderate for DAP and ALTT, respectively. The largest genetic gains were obtained through individual selection when compared to selection between and within, being able to allow important genetic gains in the continuation of the selection program for the species. Hence, results obtained indicate genetic variability for the studied characters, especially for DAP, under the conditions encompassed by the study. |

Universidade Federal Rural da Amazônia/UFRA2015-04-13info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://ajaes.ufra.edu.br/index.php/ajaes/article/view/1668Amazonian Journal of Agricultural Sciences Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences; Vol 58 No 1 (2015): RCA; 69-74Revista de Ciências Agrárias Amazonian Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences; v. 58 n. 1 (2015): RCA; 69-742177-87601517-591Xreponame:Revista de Ciências Agrárias (Belém.
