The present article aims to make a brief analysis on the dwellings of the manumited women in the Pitangui village, from 1750 to 1820. The town belonged to the Comarca do Rio das Velhas, that in turn was part of the Captaincy of Minas Gerais, Brazil. To do so, we will use as primary sources post-mortem inventories and wills, in order to understand the composition of these homes, as well as their locations in the locality in question. Given the qualitative analysis of the documentation, we realized that those homes meant not only a place of rest, but also a place for different social and economic dealings.
