Resumo: This study aimed to analyze how racism, as a multifaceted and multidimensional complex phenomenon, impacts the trajectory of black students with regard to their subjectivities. Simultaneously, we seek to present some perceptions of white students about racism, since this segment constitutes an integral and active part of racialized social dynamics. In order to understand these issues, in addition to the theoretical discussion, anchored in sociological studies dedicated to the analysis of the racial issue, we used qualitative, semi-structured interviews as a basis, carried out with high school students from ten public schools linked to the Regional Education Nucleus of Londrina, Paraná. Twenty students aged between 16 and 21 years old participated in the investigation, fourteen self-declared black (black or brown) and six self-declared white. The research results show that racism, as a phenomenon intrinsic to the social structure, permeates the trajectory of black students in the various dimensions of life in society. Discriminatory practices permeate social institutions and interpersonal relationships, repeating themselves in all spaces of everyday life. With regard to the white students' narratives, we found that they not only perceive the existence of deep-rooted racism in the Brazilian societal structure, but also, explicitly or implicitly, were aware of the material and symbolic privilege associated with the white group.

With regard to the white students' narratives, we found that they not only perceive the existence of deep-rooted racism in the Brazilian societal structure, but also, explicitly or implicitly, were aware of the material and symbolic privilege associated with the white group.
