The Amazonian poetics of Leandro Tocantins: literature and memory in Cosmoinfância

Resumo: Through a bibliographical incursion, which crosses the fields of Literature and Memory, we seek to discuss how the Amazon is configured in the poems that make up the work Cosmoinfância, by the writer Leandro Tocantins (1919-2004), in order to verify, in/through the literary fabric, different aspects of Amazonian society and culture engendered by poetic language. Based on the works of Le Goff (1996), Barthes (2007), Candido (2014), Guimarães (1997), Bosi (2000), among other studies, it was observed that Leandro Tocantins verses bear traces of the memory of the Amazon in the mid-20th century, under the consequences of the decline in rubber production; the peculiarities of Manaus and Belém; as well as the vicissitudes of riverside populations.
