Resumo: In this work, we investigate the narrative device of memory in the novel Blood-drenched beard (2012), by Daniel Galera. The analysis takes place through a dialectical observation between literary form and social process (CANDIDO, 2006). Memory is investigated with the help of theoretical contributions by Halbwachs (2004), Gagnebin (2006), Ricoeur (2007) e Sarlo (2007), while the critical exercise is supported by Conti (2012), Dalcastagnè (2018), Facchin (2015), Schøllhammer (2012a, 2012b) and Zandoná and Niederauer (2015). We pay attention to the way in which memory operates and the aesthetic and social implications of this resource. It is evaluated that the use of this device aligns with issues related to Brazilian reality, such as the erasure of the past and the oblivion.

Atentamos para o modo como a memória opera e as implicações estéticas e sociais desse recurso.
