AN ANALYSIS OF HERBERT SIMON'S CONTRIBUTION FOR THE ORGANIZATIONAL THEORIES

Resumo: The Herbert A. Simon's studies in the field of the organizational theory had as major motivation the concern with the real behavior of the human being along with the organizations. Among his main theses, the one which made him widely recognized was the theory of the limited rationality. Because of the relevance of Simon's works, the objective of the present work is to map out the main contributions of this author within the organizational studies. To reach the proposed objective, an analysis was performed to assess his publications, which published approximately 845 original works (among articles and books), in the period of 1937 to February 2001. Besides the study and reflection of the main publications, it was conducted an analysis of the content of the titles of all his publications in an attempt to the trajectory of Simon's themes of interest. The results found indicated that, although he presented a multidisciplinary character, Simon's research were oriented with a specific base: search for a better comprehension of the real behavior of the human being in the decision-taking and resolution of problems within the organizations.

Simon en el campo de la teoría organizacional tenían como motivación principal la preocupación con el real comportamiento del ser humano junto a las organizaciones. Entre sus principales tesis defendidas lo que le ha rendido mayor reconocimiento fue la proposición de la teoría de la racionalidad limitada. Delante de la relevancia de la obra de Simon, el objetivo del presente artículo será mapear las principales contribuciones de este autor dentro de los estudios organizacionales. Para alcanzar el objetivo propuesto se realizó un análisis en sus publicaciones, que sumaran aproximadamente 845 obras originales (entre artículos y libros) publicadas en el período de 1937 a febrero de 2001. Además del estudio y reflexión de las principales publicaciones del autor fue conduzido un análisis de contenido en los títulos de todas sus publicaciones, buscando identificar la trayectoria de los temas de interés de Simon. Los resultados encontrados indicaran que mismo presentando una naturaleza multidisciplinar, las investigaciones de Simon fueran orientadas por una preocupación básica: buscar una mejor compreensión del real comportamiento humano en el proceso de tomada de decisión y resolución de problemas dentro de las organizaciones.Os estudos de Herbert A. Simon no campo da teoria organizacional  tinham como motivação principal a preocupação com o real comportamento do ser humano junto às organizações. Entre as suas principais teses defendidas o que lhe rendeu maior reconhecimento foi a proposição da teoria da racionalidade limitada. Diante da relevância da obra de Simon, o objetivo do presente artigo será  mapear  as principais contribuições deste autor dentro dos estudos organizacionais. Para alcançar o objetivo  proposto  realizou-se  uma análise em suas publicações, que somaram aproximadamente 845 obras originais (entre artigos e livros) publicadas no período de 1937 a fevereiro de 2001. Além do estudo e reflexão das principais publicações do autor foi conduzida uma análise de conteúdo nos títulos de todas as suas publicações, buscando identificar a trajetória dos temas de interesse de Simon.
