Resumo: The Orem’s Self – Care Theory was used as a guide for a nursing care plan of a 16 years-old adolescent with renal failure in continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialyses (CAPD). The theory was usedto assess the self-care deficits, the ability of the family to meet the patient’s self – care demands, and the nursing actions needed in this case. Conditioning factors such as motivation, social economic status and education greatly interfered on the ongoing process of self – care

Foram levantados os déficits de autocuidado e planejadas as ações do próprio cliente, da família e da enfermagem necessárias para atingir as demandas de autocuidado.
