Resumo: | This is a descriptive exploratory study. It aims to identify the meaning of care in Nursing on the perspective o eighteen Nurse aides students. To collect the data, it was asked to the students to write down an answer to the following question: “What is the meaning of care to me?” The data was separated in groups that pointed to two categories and their elements: the expressive care and the professional care. Expressive care presented itself as: affection, giving, being present, protection, concerning, being available, understanting, respecting, comforting, being responsible, solidarity, providing security, having intention, sharing/exchanging. Professional care showed to be: assist/care, technical competence, professional knowledge and to like what is done. |

Professional care showed to be: assist/care, technical competence, professional knowledge and to like what is done.Es un estudio exploratorio descriptivo que tuvo para el objetivo identificar el significado de cuidado en enfermería según la perspectiva de dieciocho estudiantes de un curso de auxiliar de enfermería. Para la colección de datos se pidió a los estudiantes que contestasen por escrito, la pregunta: “Qué entiendo yo por cuidado?” Los datos apuntan para dos categorías y sus elementos: el cuidado expresivo y el cuidado profesional. El cuidado expresivo se manifestó como: afecto, donarse, presencia, proteger, preocuparse, estar disponible, entender, respetar, confortar, responsabilidad, solidaridad, dar seguridad, intencionalidad, compartir/trocar. El cuidado profesional como: asistir/cuidar, competencia técnica, conocimiento profesional, y gustar do que se hace.Trata-se de um estudo exploratório descritivo que teve por objetivo identificar o significado do cuidar em enfermagem na perspectiva de dezoito alunos de um curso supletivo de auxiliar de enfermagem. Para a coleta de dados solicitou-se aos alunos que responderem por escrito a pergunta: “O que eu entendo por cuidar?”. Os dados agrupados apontam para duas categorias e seus elementos: o cuidar expressivo e o cuidar profissional. O cuidar expressivo manifestou-se como: afeto, doar-se, presença, proteger, preocupação, disponibilidade, compreender, respeitar, confortar, responsabilidade, solidariedade, dar segurança, intencionalidade, compartilhar/trocar.
