Resumo: Whenever patients and their families are faced to the possibility of undergoing surgery they experience feelings of hope for a positive result, as well as anxiety and distrust caused by fear of the unknown. When the patient is transferred to the Recovery Room, this time represents for the family a waiting time for information to brighten up its distress and anxiety. The objective of this study is getting to know the perceptions of nurses in a Recovery Room in relation to the information supplied to the family as a form of humanized care. This study was carried out with three nurses in a teaching hospital in the city of Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Data collection was conducted through semi-structured interview, using the thematic content analysis, which resulted in three categories of nurses’ perception: facing the families’ worries and the need of providing the necessary information, their own construction as a caregiver, and their own ways of looking for humanized care. This, in the perception of the nurses, strengthens the professional identity and care values.

Este estudio cualitativo tuvo como objetivo conocer las percepciones de enfermeras de una URPA relacionadas con las informaciones dadas a la familia, como una forma de cuidado humanizado. El estudio se realizó en un Hospital Universitario del municipio de Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil. Participaran tres enfermeras. Las informaciones fueran recolectadas por medio de la técnica de entrevista semiestructurada. Se utilizó el análisis temático de contenido para analizar los significados de las informaciones, que reveló tres categorias de percepción de las enfermeras: preocupación de la familia y la necesidad de fornecer informaciones adecuadas, su construcción como un ser cuidador y sus trayectorias en busca de un cuidado humanizado. Este, en la percepción de las enfermeras, fortalece la identidad profesional y valora el cuidadoQuando o paciente é transferido para a unidade de recuperação pós-anestésica (URPA), este momento representa à família uma espera por informações que amenizem a sua angústia e ansiedade. Este estudo qualitativo teve como objetivo conhecer as percepções de enfermeiras de uma URPA relacionadas com as informações fornecidas a família, como uma forma de cuidado humanizado. O local do estudo foi um Hospital Universitário do município de Porto Alegre. Participaram três enfermeiras. As informações foram coletadas por meio da técnica de entrevista semi-estruturada. Utilizou-se a análise temática de conteúdo para analisar os significados das informações, que revelou três categorias de percepção das enfermeiras: frente as preocupações da família e a necessidade de fornecer informações adequadas, sua construção com um ser cuidador e sua trajetórias em busca de um cuidado humanizado.
