The help relation as a tool for the psychiatric nurse work: a case study

Resumo: This study was carried out at a in-ward psychiatric hospital unit at the Medical School of Marília and its aim was to discuss the applicability of the technique of help relation that occurred during the interaction of a nurse and a patient diagnosed as being schizophrenic. A patient presenting a diagnosis of schizo-affective schizophrenia was selected and an interaction of about 35 minutes with him was developed. Afterwards, this moment was analyzed and discussed along with the teaching staff of the discipline “Interpersonal Relation Nurse/Patient”. It was noted that even being a difficult approach to work with schizophrenic patients, it is possible to develop nursing care based on help relation.

Tuvo como objetivo discutir la aplicación de la técnica de relación de ayuda ocurrida entre un enfermero junto a un cliente con diagnóstico de esquizofrenia. Entonces fue seleccionado un paciente con diagnóstico de esquizofrenia esquizo-afectivo y hubo una entrevista de aproximadamente 35 minutos; después esta entrevista fue analizada y discutida juntamente con docentes de la disciplina “Relación Interpersonal Enfermero Paciente”. Pudimos observar que, aunque dificil la tarea, trabajar con esquizofrénicos es posible desarrollar una asistencia pautada en la relación de ayuda.Este estudo foi desenvolvido na unidade de internação psiquiátrica de um hospital da Faculdade de Medicina de Marília, tendo como objetivo discutir a aplicação da técnica de relação de ajuda ocorrida entre um enfermeiro e um cliente com diagnóstico de esquizofrenia. Selecionado um paciente com diagnóstico de esquizofrenia esquizo-afetiva foi desenvolvida com ele uma interação de aproximadamente 35 minutos. Depois, esta foi analisada e discutida juntamente com docentes da disciplina “Relacionamento Interpessoal Enfermeiro Paciente”.
