Resumo: Aiming to carry out a critical and interpretative reflection about Joyce Travelbee’s theory of Interpersonal Relation, we used a discursive segment of the model of theory analysis proposed by Meleis. The analysis specifically used the description of the model at the functional components: focus, client, nursing, health, nurse-client interaction, environment, nursing problems and nursing therapeutics. We identified the focus as the interpersonal nature of the relations, with the objective to help the client or the family. The other component had been identified within the theory, except for the term environment. The model of analysis is presented, therefore, as efficient while aiming the evaluation and adequacy of the theory to the scientific work.

El análisis utilizó específicamente la descripción del modelo en los componentes funcionales: foco, cliente, oficio de enfermera, salud, cuidar-cliente de la interacción, ambiente, problemas del oficio de enfermera terapéutico y del oficio de enfermera. Identificamos el foco como, la naturaleza interpersonal de las relaciones, con el objetivo para ayudar a individuo o a la familia. Los excesivamente componentes habían sido identificados en la teoría, excepto sí mismos el término circundante. El modelo del análisis se presenta, por lo tanto, como apuntar eficiente para la evaluación y la suficiencia de la teoría al trabajo científico.Objetivou-se realizar uma reflexão crítico-interpretativa da Teoria da Relação Interpessoal de Joyce Travelbee, utilizou-se um segmento discursivo do modelo de análise de teoria proposto por Meleis. A análise utilizou a descrição do modelo especificamente nos componentes funcionais: foco, cliente, enfermagem, saúde, interação enfermeiro-cliente, ambiente, problemas de enfermagem e terapêutica de enfermagem. Identificamos o foco como a natureza interpessoal das relações, com o objetivo de ajudar o individuo ou família. Os demais componentes foram identificados na teoria, excetuando-se o termo ambiente.
