Roy’s Model in obstetric nursing: analysis from Meleis’ point of view

Resumo: This study analyses the usage of Roy’s Adaptation Model in the understanding of behaviorial responses experienced by woman during the parturition process, applies the description phase of The Meleis’s analysis model and stops in the structural components, as follows: suppositions, concepts and propositions. These elements were explored in the model proposed by Roy and analysed according to their evidence in obstetric nursing situation. One remarks that that the usage of Roy’s adaptation model was appropriated, which allowed an explicit analysis of most structural elements of the study.

One remarks that that the usage of Roy’s adaptation model was appropriated, which allowed an explicit analysis of most structural elements of the study.El estúdio analisa el uso del Modelo de Adaptación de Roy con relación a las respuestas comportamentales vivenciadas por la mujer durante lo proceso de parto, aplica la fase de la descripción del Modelo del Análise de Meleis y se detiene en los componentes estructurales, como ser: presupuestos, conceptos y propuestas. Dichos elementos se exploraron en el modelo propuesto por Roy y analisados con relación a la evidencia de los mismos dentro de la situación de enfermería obstétrica. Se resalta que, el uso del modelo de adaptación de Roy resultó apropiado y permite la captación de forma explícita de la mayoría de los componentes estructurales en el estudio.O estudo analisa a utilização do Modelo de Adaptação de Roy na compreensão das respostas comportamentais vivenciadas pela mulher durante o processo de parturição, aplica a etapa de descrição do modelo de análise de Meleis e se detém nos componentes estruturais, a saber: pressupostos, conceitos e proposições. Esses elementos foram explorados no modelo proposto por Roy e analisados quanto à evidência dos mesmos na situação de enfermagem obstétrica.
