The use of the Delphi Technique for competencies investigation: an experience report.

Resumo:   The Delphi technique has been used in nursing research, with eletronic means as na option. This article has the objective of reporting researchers’ experience on the application of this technique in a study about nurses’ competencies for the performance of Essential Public Health Functions. Experts were searched on the Lattes Platform of the  National Council of Scientific and Technologic Development (CNPq) in Brazil. Two groups with 50 participants each, one with nurses and other with faculty with representation of every geographic region of the country were organized.  The competencies validation instrument was sent by electronic means. Although it is reported that this form reduces the time for sending and receiving the questionnaires, difficulties to obtain contact with the experts, lack of return of the participants and a long time to answer the instrument were observed.  Health care professionals need to understand the importance of their participation in researches with the utilization of this technique.

Este artículo tiene como objetivo relatar la experiencia de pesquisidores en la aplicación de esta técnica en un estudio sobre las competencias de la Enfermera para el desempeño de las Funciones Esenciales de Salud Publica. Procedemos a la búsqueda por experts utilizando la Plataforma Lattes del Consejo Nacional de Desarrollo Científico y Tecnológico (CNPq) de Brasil. Fueran organizados dos grupos con 50 participantes cada, uno de enfermeras y otro de docentes con representación de las regiones geográficas del país. El instrumento de validación de competencias fue enviado vía electrónica. Aunque sea preconizado que esta forma reduce el tiempo de envío y recibimiento de los cuestionarios, constató se dificultad de obtener el contacto con los experts, falta de retorno de los participantes y demora en responder al instrumento. Los profesionales de salud necesitan comprender la importancia de su participación en pesquisas con la utilización de esta técnica. A técnica Delphi tem sido utilizada na pesquisa em enfermagem, podendo ser realizada pela internet. Este artigo tem como objetivo relatar a experiência de pesquisadores na aplicação desta técnica em um estudo sobre as competências da Enfermeira para o desempenho das Funções Essenciais de Saúde Pública. Procedemos à busca por experts utilizando a Plataforma Lattes do Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq). Foram organizados dois grupos com 50 participantes cada, um de enfermeiras e outro de docentes com representação das regiões geográficas do país. O instrumento de validação de competências foi enviado via eletrônica. Embora seja preconizado que esta forma reduz o tempo de envio e recebimento dos questionários, constatou-se dificuldade de obter o contato com os experts, falta de retorno dos participantes e demora em responder ao instrumento.
