Resumo: This is a case study which theoretical reference is the Calgary Model of Family Evaluation (CMFE). The aim was to understand the experience of a pregnant woman with vulvar condilomatosis caused by Human Papillomavirus (HPV), and to understand the changes in family dynamics after the clinical and laboratory diagnosis of HPV. The study was conducted at a reference institution in gynecology in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil. Data were collected from October 2003 through April 2004. Data were analyzed using CMFE, tracing six “developing” events, highlighting that the patient experienced emotional suffering caused by pregnancy and by HPV, as well as physical suffering, due to the surgeries to which she was submitted to. All these facts altered family dynamics.

El objetivo fue entender la experiencia de una embarazada con condilomatosis vulvar ocasionada por el Papilomavirus Humano (HPV), y además conocer las alteraciones en la dinámica familiar después del diagnóstico clínico y de laboratorio de la paciente. El estudio se realizó en una institución de referencia en ginecología en Fortaleza, Ceará, Brasil. La recolección de los datos se realizó de octubre de 2003 a abril de 2004. Los datos fueron analizados a partir del MCAF, siendo trazados seis eventos de desarrollo, los que pusieron en evidencia que la paciente pasó por un gran sufrimiento emocional debido al embarazo y a la infección por el Papilomavirus, y físico también, debido a las varias cirugías a las que fue sometida. Todos estos hechos alteraron la dinámica familiar.Trata-se de um estudo de caso, tendo como referencial teórico o Modelo Calgary de Avaliação de Famílias (MCAF). Os objetivos foram compreender a experiência de uma gestante com condilomatose vulvar ocasionada pelo Papillomavirus Humano (HPV) e conhecer as alterações na dinâmica familiar após a gestante ter diagnóstico clínico e laboratorial de HPV. O estudo foi realizado em uma instituição de referência em ginecologia em Fortaleza, Ceará. A coleta de dados se deu de outubro de 2003 a abril de 2004.
