Resumo: | Physical trauma occurred at home with children from zero to six years of age is a descriptive study outlining an epidemiologic case series that aims at characterising trauma and the situations in which it occurs. Subjects were 120 individuals legally responsible for hospitalized children of the mentioned age in the second semester of 2002. The study detected the necessity of implanting an information system in ambulatory care units and hospitals in order to get knowledge about several relevant variables, as sorts, frequency, circumstances and causes for the traumas. The necessity of an educational approach to prevention was also strongly evidenced. |

Los sujetos fueron los 120 responsables legales de los niños de cero a seis años hospitalizados, en el segundo semestre de 2002. Se concluye la necesidad de implantación de un sistema de informaciones en ambulatorios y hospitales que permita el conocimiento de las diversas variables: frecuencia, tipos, circunstancias y causas de esos traumas, ya que han sido relevantes. El tratamiento educativo necesario a su prevención quedó fuertemente evidenciado.Traumas físicos em crianças de zero a seis anos ocorridos em domicílio é um estudo descritivo com delineamento epidemiológico de série de casos, tendo o objetivo de caracterizar o trauma e suas situações de ocorrência. Os sujeitos foram os 120 responsáveis legais de crianças de zero a seis anos hospitalizadas no segundo semestre de 2002. Constata-se a necessidade de implantar um sistema de informações em ambulatórios e hospitais que permita o conhecimento de diversas variáveis relevantes: tipos, freqüência, circunstâncias e causas desses traumas.
