Resumo: This is a bibliographic research that analyses the scientific writing about the theme therapeutic accompaniment from 1960 until 2003. The objective of this study to identify the emerging themes in this writing and establish what the therapeutic accompaniment means for the agents of such practice. Five thematic categories have been selected: objectives, functions and definitions of therapeutic accompaniment, at whom the therapeutic accompaniment is aimed, the therapeutic accompanist characteristics as a professional, the characteristics and ways the therapeutic accompaniment clinic is undergone and the theoretical background for the therapeutic accompaniment. It has been verified that the therapeutic accompaniment is markedby setting larger and may be related to different theoretical perspectives.

Fueron seleccionados cinco temas emergentes: objetivos; funciones y definiciones de acompañamiento terapéutico; a quien se destina su trabajo; el perfil del profesional; características y modos de realizar la clínica del acompañamiento terapéutico; y fundamento teórico del trabajo. Se verificó que la singuralidad del acompañamiento terapéutivo es el setting ampliado y puede estar relacionado a diferentes perspectivas teóricas.Este é um estudo bibliográfico que analisa as produções científicas referentes ao tema acompanhamento terapêutico, no período entre 1960 e 2003, com o objetivo de identificar os temas emergentes dessa produção e estabelecer o que é o acompanhamento terapêutico para os agentes dessa prática. Foram selecionados cinco temas emergentes: objetivos, funções e definições de acompanhamento terapêutico; a quem se destina o seu trabalho; o perfil do profissional; características e modos de realizar a clínica no acompanhamento terapêutico; e fundamentação teórica do trabalho.
