Resumo: Partindo da leitura pioneira feita por Antonio Candido em “O homem dos avessos”, o presente artigo propõe um passeio por quatro leitores de Grande sertão: veredas, de Guimarães Rosa – Antonio Candido, João Adolfo Hansen, Vilém Flusser e Willi Bolle – à luz de certa antropologia recente, representada aqui por Eduardo Viveiros de Castro. O objetivo do trabalho é investigar como os críticos, em suas estratégias de investigação, se valem da oposição “natureza/cultura”, e diversos de seus desdobramentos, para suas análises do romance rosiano. Em última instância, busca-se apontar a insuficiência da forma como certa metafísica ocidental costuma ser operada para tentar dar conta do romance.
