Resumo: | Language Acquisition is a developmental science that advances our knowledge about how we describe, explain, and predict linguistic phenomena to plan effective interventions. Knowing where dissension and consensus lie is adamant for documenting further progress. Establishing what we know and where challenges lie for more inclusive practices implicates on deepening our understanding about genetic endowments and implications on neural development and social cognition at the base of language acquisition. This narrative review includes recent advances on oral language acquisition and development, genetic profiles and neurobiological aspects that we need to acknowledge for better and more inclusive practices to enable acquisition of reading and writing skills. |
