NARCISSE CHEZ PAUL VALÉRY ET CHEZ ANDRÉ GIDE : POÉSIE ET SOLITUDE[1]NARCISSUS IN PAUL VALÉRY’S AND ANDRÉ GIDE’S WORK : POETRY AND SOLITUDE  RÉSUMÉ : Le mythe de Narcisse est présent aux débuts des oeuvres de Paul Valéry et d’André Gide. Nous tâcherons dans cet article à saisir la signification de ce mythe chez ces deux écrivains du XXème siècle à partir d’une comparaison avec la version du mythe chez Ovide (dans Les Métamorphoses); Narcisse n’est plus l’être fautif, puni pour son orgueil chez Ovide ; il devient un symbole de l’attitude poétique chez Gide et chez Valéry. À partir de ce constat, nous aurons l´occasion de discuter sur le statut de l´individu et de son rapport à la société d’après la théorie de la sortie de la religion de Marcel Gauchet, ainsi que sur son importance pour la conception moderne du poète et de l’individu telle qu’elle se reflète dans les vesions de Gide et de Valéry du mythe de Narcisse. MOTS-CLÉ : Narcisse, André Gide, Paul Valéry  ABSTRACT : The myth of Narcissus is present at Paul Valéry’s and André Gide’s early works. In this article, we will grasp the meanings of this myth in these two French XXth century writers through a comparison with Ovidius’ version for this same myth at The Metamorphoses : Narcissus in no longer a being worthy of reproach, whose pride is punished, as it is the case in Ovidius’ version, but, in Valéry’s and Gide’s texts, the symbol of the poetical attitude. To understand this, we will have the occasion to discuss the status of the individual et his relationship to society according to Marcel Gauchet’s theory of the exit from religion, as well as its importance for modern conceptions of the poet and of the individual as they appear in the Gide’s and Valéry’s versions for the myth of Narcissus.  KEYWORDS : Narcissus, André Gide, Paul Valéry            [1] Article élaboré à partir d´une conférence intitulée: “Le Mythe de Narcisse dans le symbolisme français: Gide et Valéry”, présentée le 22 mars 2017 dans l´Universidad de Antioquia et dans l´Universidad Católica de Oriente, en Colombie.
