Resumo: The study deals with Sustainable Development and the implications of a cleaner production model in the manufacturing processes of a furniture company. The goal of this research was to study the concepts of sustainable development and cleaner production in a plant. The research method was a case study applied in a furniture company. The data collecting techniques used were semi-structure interviews, non-participant observation and bibliographical research. The results show that the company, concerned with environment issues, has promoted changes in an effort to reach sustainability, it rearranged its manufacturing process and has recycled the residue generated during manufacture. The study showed that this company has casually adopted a cleaner manufacturing model, and the benefits confirm the sustainability.

O objetivo desta pesquisa foi estudar os conceitos de desenvolvimento sustentável e produção mais limpa em uma empresa industrial. O estudo de caso foi o método de pesquisa adotado em uma empresa do setor moveleiro. As técnicas de coleta de dados foram entrevistas semiestruturadas, observação não participante e pesquisa bibliográfica. Os resultados mostram que a empresa, preocupada com as questões ambientais, promoveu mudanças almejando a sustentabilidade, reorganizou seu processo produtivo e reaproveitou os resíduos gerados durante o mesmo.
