Resumo: This article analyzes the spatial distribution of the secondary sector in Southern Brazil and its convergence in the period from 1985 to 2009. For its development, were calculated analysis indicators and regional econometric models estimated using panel data. The results showed an increase in the percentage of micro specialized industry in the South and a more homogeneous spatial distribution. In the analysis regarding industrial convergence, the initial conditions and structural characteristics (education, population, GDP per capita) have become relevant in determining participation in industrial GDP of each region.

Para seu desenvolvimento, foram calculados indicadores de análise regional e estimados modelos econométricos usando dados em painel. Os resultados mostraram o aumento percentual de microrregiões especializadas na indústria na região Sul e uma distribuição espacial mais homogênea.
