Resumo: This article presents possible scenarios for the public funding of health care in the next decades. We discuss how public resources are used to finance both public and private health care and what are the financial implications of the Constitutional Amendment 29 for the SUS. The scenarios presented for the period 2012-2030 take into account possible alternatives for the regulation of the Amendment and GDP and tax revenue estimates, according to varying tax revenue/GDP elasticities. We also considered alternative growth and public regulation of the private health care sector.

Discute a peculiaridade relacionada ao financia- mento público perpassar por todos os segmentos, público e privados; analisa o fi- nanciamento do SUS, especialmente as repercussões potenciais e reais da Emenda Constitucional 29. Os cenários construídos para o período 2012 a 2030 - pessimis- ta, inercial e otimista - levam em consideração diferentes possibilidades de regu- lamentação da EC 29 e estimativas de crescimento do PIB e das receitas tributá- rias, segundo diferentes elasticidades receita/PIB.
