Resumo: One of the main problems of research in the social sciences refers to the quality of democracy. Gathering a wide group of researchers, the discussions about this theme has been influenced mainly by the controversy about democracy´s development and its functioning parameters. Consequently, the concepts of quality of democracy are multiple. The objective of this paper is to examine some of the main contributions that analyze this question, as well as to argue about the limits and potentialities of this issue.

Reunindo um grupo amplo de autores, a discussão sobre esse tema vem sendo pautada principalmente pela polêmica em torno do desenvolvimento da democracia e seus parâmetros de funcionamento. Consequentemente, os conceitos de qualidade da democracia são múltiplos. A proposta deste artigo é apresentar algumas das principais contribuições que analisam o assunto, assim como argumentar sobre os limites e as potencialidades dessa questão.
